- Abstract:
- tIncreasing the bandwidth of a receiver is limited to the bandwidth of the system's internal components such as amplifiers, power dividers / combiners, and directional couplers, which are widely used in array antenna systems. Wilkinson splitters are often used for balanced power dividers and hybrid branch line couplers are used for directional couplers because their macrostrip structure makes them lighter and cheaper, and ultimately increases their use. Unfortunately, these elements provide up to 20% fractional bandwidth, which is not enough in our intended use. Also, the design of the power divider at millimeter wave frequencies has challenges such as matching impedance across all bands and high losses. In this dissertation, first, solutions to increase the bandwidth of the elements and to face the existing challenges are mentioned, such as placing additional stubs or multi-sectioningthe dividerand coupler. Then, single-layer and broadband Wilkinson power dividersand directional couplers with new, inexpensive and optimal structures are designed and simulated, and the results of each simulation are reported in each section. Finally, the Wilkinson power divider is made in two pieces with a bandwidth of at least 40% from 20 to 30 GHz with losses of less than 5dB. This splitter will be used in the millimeter wave imaging system
