- Abstract:
- In data transmission from a transmitter to a receiver, in some applications receiving updated data is crucial. To this end, a metric called Peak Age of Information has been introduced, the minimum of which is equivalent to having more updated packets. In this thesis, a method for calculating the probability distribution function of this random variable in a random access network with a transmitter, a relay, and a receiver in which the error probability of the channels between the transmitter and the relay and also the relay and the receiver is less than the error probability of the channel between the transmitter and the receiver, is proposed. The transmitter and the relay send their packets in each time slot with some known probability toward the receiver. Transmitter’s packet is sent to the relay and the receiver simultaneously, and since the channel between the transmitter and the relay has a better condition in comparison with the channel between the transmitter and the receiver, it is likely that the transmitted packet will be received by the relay but not be received by the receiver. If there is a new packet in the transmitter in the next time slot, which is fresher than the relay’s one, and the transmitter and the relay send their packets at the same time slot, a collision occurs in the destination side and no packet will be received. In this thesis, first, after calculating the distribution of the Peak Age of Information and calculating its mean, the management of sending packets will be determined through which this expectation is minimized. By comparing the mean of this random variable, it can be concluded that different cases of this problem will not be different. As a result, the variance of this random variable will be calculated, and we will see that different cases of this problem will be very different in terms of variance. Finally, we will investigate the CCDF diagrams and see that there are optimum points for the parameters of this problem
