Analysis of Operational Indices for Old National Thermal Powerplants for Performance Optimization and Consumption Management in Operational Conditions

- In recent years, the country's electricity industry has faced many problems. On the one hand, the number of consumers and the intensity of their consumption have increased, and on the other hand, the production sector has been facing many problems. Since the management of these systems requires the development of mathematical models, the introduction of various operational indices and system analysis, in order to provide solutions to reduce consumption, increase production and reduce environmental damage, in this research Bistoon Kermanshah steam power plant, as a selected power plant, is simulated in both design and operational conditions, by the information available in the design documents and conducting field activities at the power plant, by using Thermoflow software, and its energy and exergy analysis code, has been developed in EES software. The simulation of the power plant and the energy and exergy analysis indicated that the energy efficiency of the cycle has decreased by 1.75 percent compared to the design conditions and the condenser has taken the largest share of the energy waste. Also, the largest exergy destruction occurs in the boiler and is equal to 246.8 MW, which is caused by the combustion and chemical reactions and mixing that occurred in the boiler furnace. Also, by comparing the design and operational values of the operational indices determined for the power plant and parametric study, the effect of the deviations created in them on the energy and exergy efficiency of the cycle, cooling tower water consumption and fuel flow consumption of the power plant has been determined and since the highest amount of exergy destruction occurred in the boiler and considering that the changes of the most effective indices on the exergy destruction of the cycle have had the greatest effect on the boiler, the optimization of the boiler, with the aim of minimization of its exergy destruction has been done using genetic algorithm. Finally, according to the deviations identified in the operational indices, determining the problems in the power plant and considering the environmental issues, solutions have been proposed and analysed.
