- The aim of this project is to inventigate and synthesize CaO-based nanocatalysts with metal promoters of magnesium and lithium by wet impregnation and coprecipitation methods, which are used in the transesterification reaction of canola oil and methanol. Sections of thesis include review of before researches , synthesis of nanocatalysts, catalyst characterization tests,and investigation of reaction under optimal conditions. In wet impregnation method, nanocatalysts were made with 5% by weight of lithium-magnesium on the basis of CaO and with different weight percentages of these two elements. In the co-precipitation method , catalysts with a combined base of calcium oxide/magnesium oxide with 5% by weight of lithium as promoter were synthesized. Catalyst characterization tests including X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray (EDX), Brunauer-Emmet-Teller (BET) surface area studies were used to describe their structure and morphology. The yield of biodiesel was determined by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The hetergenious catalyst 5% lithum on magnesium-calsium oxide base with 3:1 molar ratio ,produced good catalytic properties such as high surface area , good base strength, large average pore diameter and homogeneous distribution of elements. Catalyst with 95% CaO and 5% Li as promotor show the high conversion 84% and reaction optimum conditions are : reaction temperature 60 , molar ratio of alkohol to oil 9:1, catalyst usage 3%w, reaction time 3 hour.
