  7. Abstract:
  8. Gearbox is one of the important components of power transmission chain in the car which the engagement of the gears inside it causes noise. The following thesis, is in line with the project that was defined as "NVH reduction of the Tiba X200 gearbox" and to increase the correlation between university and industry, the aim of which was to improve all the noise sources in the mentioned vehicle. The purpose of this project is to reduce the noise of the gearbox shell by using reinforcing blades called ribs. For this purpose, first the desired changes were made in Solidworks software on the 3D model of the gearbox shell, and then the finite element model of the gearbox shell was prepared in Abaqus software. Then, the dynamic solution of the gearbox set was done with the help of AVL Excite Power Unit software, and finally, the gearbox noise results were obtained by AVL Excite Acoustics software. This process was done for different arrangements of ribs to obtain the optimal arrangement with the help of optimization methods. Then, in order to validate the results obtained from the software, the engagement frequencies of the gearbox were matched with the frequency spectrum of the gearbox and the natural frequencies of the shells were compared with the experimental tests. After the optimization process, the overall noise of the shell in the optimal layout was reduced by 1.3 dB. In this rib arrangement, gear 2 noise and 4000 rpm noise decreased by about 2 decibels. Due to the fast convergence of the algorithm to the local minimum, the optimal process was once again performed with an initial point outside the searched area. Despite the acceptable distance between the final point in the two processes, similar results were obtained in the two processes.
