  7. Abstract:
  8. In recent years, the challenges of using fossil energy causes governments and researchers to focus on renewable energies. In this regard, one of the strategies for generating power is using wave energy converters. The aim of present study is modeling frequency and time domain analysis of the wave energy converter. the study focuses on the effect of Power-Take-Off system on the output power and efficiency under the Macoran sea waves. First, the concept of wave converters is explained and the commercialized ones are introduced. Then the related previous works are reviewed and the wave theories are briefly presented. In the following, a specified one-degree-of-freedom converter is modeled in ANSYS-AQWA. The derived hydrodynamic coefficients are utilized as input parameters to MATLAB software for solving the governing equations. For validation of the presented method, the results of the generated power and efficiency are compared ones related to a similar model in published research. Due to the low efficiency of one degree of freedom energy converter, a two degree of freedom wave energy converter is analyzed. The results of the generated power under regular waves, are compared with the experimental results of a similar model that shows a good agreement. Then, the performance of the wave energy converters under the irregular waves of the Macoran waves is investigated and the effects of different parameters on the output power are examined. The results show that by tuning the dynamic characteristics, an acceptable range of the output power is achieved which properly happens in the peak periods of the Macoran sea
