- Abstract:
- This research aims to define a two-level causality by using the imagination world, in which every phenomenon, in addition to having a material cause, has an imagination cause, and of course, these two causes are the manifestation of a single thing in two different worlds; That is, everything that exists in the material world is another face of the phenomena of the imagination world. This research is presented in an introduction, two parts and a conclusion. The first part deals with Henry Corbin and his research on the imagination world, and the second part is dedicated to the role of imagination world in explaining the relationship between science and religion. In the first part, after a brief introduction of Henry Corbin and his works and explaining his view on Iranian Islam, the study of the imagination world in his various works is discussed. The imagination world, which has been given a lot of attention by him, is a world between the world of nature and abstracts. In the imagination world, physical phenomena move towards immaterial and immaterial phenomena towards becoming physical; And in this vast middle world, both immaterial and material beings appear with their imagination faces and interact with each other. Looking at human consciousness, we can see the three worlds of material, ideal and abstract in accordance with three types of knowledge in humans: sensory data that perceive material things, the sense of imagination that is between the material sense and reasoning, and intellectual activity that understands general things. shows the relationship between the imagination world and the world of matter is the relationship of manifestation, and when the phenomena of the imagination world manifest in the world of matter, they come in the form of material causes and laws of nature. Corbin explores the belief in the imagination world in different thinkers and makes it the central point of introducing Iranian thinking after and before Islam. In the second part of the research, the use of the imagination world is discussed in explaining the relationship between science and religion, and the problems that can be posed to this point of view are examined. Here, looking at Ian Barbour's classic division, the type of relationship between science and religion is explained with regard to the imagination world. In this part, it is proposed that by establishing a two-level relationship, two types of causes can be considered for every phenomenon in the world, and these two causes are in a longitudinal relationship with each other. The place of occurrence of imagination causes is the imagination world. Corbin considers many of the contents of the holy books and secret stories in the imagination world and thinks it is wrong to search the world of nature to discover their truth. Although these things do not occur in the natural world, they are not myths and have a real existence in an objective world. Establishing a two-level relationship in the world is a matter of history, and people like Plantinga, Van Inwagen and Sober have addressed the challenge between science and religion in this way. But by using Corbin and the idea of the imagination world, we can provide a detailed explanation of such a relationship. Since the imagination world was not designed to solve this problem and has been a central and long-term idea in Iranian thought, it can contribute to the validity of this solution. Various thinkers have discussed the characteristics of this world and its creatures in their works, which are examined in this research
