  7. Abstract:
  8. According to today’s medicine progress, the need for improving the medical facilities have been increased. Within the human body, the biomolecules concentration gradient is regulating the cell functions. Biological processes such as immune response, wound healing, and cancer metastasis have been affected by the bimolecular concentration gradient. So understanding the cell behavior in the presence of a chemical gradient can improve the understanding from these biological processes, and also would help in medical researches. On the other hand, finding the appropriate dose of the drugs and in some cases finding the most effective drug is a clinical challenge that made a new field of research in the name of personalized drug therapy. To solve these problems various systems were designed, these systems can be separated into two groups, conventional and microfluidic systems. Conventional systems have different problems such as lack of cell environment bio-mimicking because of their inappropriate size in comparison to the cell size. To improve these system problems, microfluidic concentration gradient generator (CGG) systems were introduced. Microfluidic CGG systems have been designed based on different fluid forces and mechanisms. In this project, a new design of the microfluidic CGG system, which works based on the fluid convection, has been introduced. This system is able to generate a wide linear range of concentrations, just by 9 inlet flows, and this feature is the most important difference between this system and other similar systems. This microfluidic system has been designed based on the analogy similarities between current circuit and laminar fluid flow through a channel, and also simulated by COMSOL Multiphasic software
