- Abstract:
- This thesis aims to provide a method for obtaining the dynamic properties, including stiffness and damping, of rolling bearings in radial and axial directions using an experimental approach. Experimental and laboratory methods such as modal testing, vibration testing, and static tests are recognized as practical approaches to obtain these properties. In this research, all three of these methods were employed to determine these properties. After studying the theoretical relationships governing bearing stiffness coefficients, a test setup was designed and constructed for conducting experiments. Subsequently, various tests were conducted, and data was collected, including shaft displacement data on both sides of the bearing for different test conditions. The variations in these data due to changes in factors such as the amplitude of excitation force, excitation frequency, rotational speed, and radial preload were studied. The results of this investigation indicate that an increase in the amplitude of excitation force and rotational speed results in a constant dynamic stiffness of the paired back-to-back rolling bearings, while the stiffness of the upper bearing has a direct relationship with the radial preload and an inverse relationship with the excitation frequency. Furthermore, increasing the amplitude of excitation force and excitation frequency leads to an increase in bearing damping, whereas an increase in radial preload reduces the damping of the structure
