  7. Abstract:
  8. The main goal of this study is to prepare and investigate stimuli responsive structures that respond to the light and other environmental triggers. Also, investigating their applications in biological fields such as: drug delivery and tissue engineering, in addition to the application of these materials in the field of chemical sensors that show color change with changes in solvent, electric field and metal ions. In the matter of drug delivery, guest-host interactions were used to release anticancer drugs, in such a way that with ultraviolet light irradiation and simultaneously with the formation of the cis isomer, the connections between azobenzene groups and cyclodextrin rings are separated and drug released. In the continuation of the research, light-sensitive hydrogels were made based on gelatin, and its use in wound dressing was investigated, in such a way that by irradiating visible light on the hydrogel, the interactions of iron ions with the structure of gelatin are disturbed and increase the biodegradability of this cellular scaffold. In the next part of this thesis, three types of photochemical sensors were made. In the first part, an azobenzene compound was prepared which can selectively identify mercury and cadmium ions in aqueous solutions. In the second part, nanospheres were made with the help of spiropyran monolayer, which can show various color changes based on the polarity of the solvent in which they are dispersed. Finally, a multiple structure was prepared from the pairing of pentamer of aniline and carbazole, which simultaneously emits various colors due to the application of an electric field and ultraviolet light radiation, then this phenomenon was investigated as a suitable optical switch
