  7. Abstract:
  8. In the past two decades, there have been significant advancements in responsible management education at the international level. These developments have led to new discourses and pathways in the field of management education and research. Responsible Management Education (RME) involves considering perspectives related to the responsibilities of enterprises, the social impacts of private sector activities on society, attention to the environment and sustainable development, and business ethics in the curriculum of business schools. Business schools worldwide have initiated numerous programs, studies, initiatives, lessons, and events to address social issues, responsible management, and sustainable development in management education. Despite these efforts, criticisms of university management education remain relatively high. Therefore, a serious research line in the field of management education focuses on examining the challenges facing RME and developing solutions for its growth. This Ph.D. dissertation comprises four series and connected papers that analyze the evolution, drivers, and challenges facing RME at the international level. It also designs a comprehensive tool to assess the status of responsible management education in business schools, which will significantly contribute to the studies of this field and design paths for improving RME in management schools. The study takes a special look at Iran's context due to the identified gap in related contextual research about developing countries. Furthermore, it provides remarkable insights by analyzing five in-depth case studies of selected Iranian management faculties and assesses and describes the current situation of numerous indicators related to RME. It also identifies the barriers and challenges facing responsible management education in Iran and suggests priorities and solutions to promote RME in the country
