  7. Abstract:
  8. In this research, the simulation and optimization of the natural gas reforming unit was carried out with the aim of multiple objects. The methanol production plant is simulated according to the low-pressure ICI license. Reference plant, including 5 main natural gas pre-treatment units; Production of synthesis gas, production of methanol, purification and purification of methanol, and production of steam. In this plant, synthesis gas is obtained by reforming natural gas. And then the synthesis gas turns into methanol. The simulation of this plant was done with Aspen HYSYS v11 software. The kinetic models of the reactors were used in process simulation after validation. Also, in optimizing this hypothetical process, there is a pre-made plant, which aims to make this plant efficient. Optimum process efficiency in this process had several goals, which include the importance of methanol production, reducing utility consumption (water, electricity, gas, etc.), and reducing carbon footprint. While assuming that this plant is predicted to be built, structural changes cannot be considered as construction. With optimization choices, Matlab 2022 software was chosen to use genetic algorithms and perform optimization. This software connected well with Aspen HYSYS v11 and had the genetic algorithm in its software bank
