  7. Abstract:
  8. Due to the intensification of competition in real markets and the increase in customer needs, manufacturers are forced to implement value-adding techniques in their production management. Many companies begin their improvement efforts without considering the need for a comprehensive plan. As a result, their improvement efforts are not carried out in an integrated and complete manner and do not lead to complete and desirable results. The main objective of this study is to provide a framework that proposes a detailed vision of lean implementation in the machine-woven carpet industry, considering the value stream map as a tool to achieve improvement strategies in this industry. This framework helps professionals to identify and analyze more deeply the key performance indicators (KPIs), wastes and improvement strategies that are fundamental factors for improving manufacturing management using lean manufacturing methods (Lean) and multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) methods. The proposed framework was validated using six case study companies in the machine-woven carpet industry and with the help of 27 respondents from the manufacturing sector of this industry. Finally, the limitations of the study are assessed and some useful implications for management are highlighted. This study makes an important contribution to the carpet machinery industry to improve performance in manufacturing management
