  7. Abstract:
  8. The development of industries in a region without considering the atmospheric environmantal capacity, can lead to an environmental disaster. This research has investigated the air pollution and emission of standard pollutant sulfur dioxide under different scenarios of the development of gas refineries in the Mokran coast. In order to achieve this goal, by having information of pollutant sources and sulfur dioxide emission rates from each of them, modeling was done by inputting temperature data, cloud coverage percentage, wind direction and wind speed, and the output data including pollutant emission rates in the regions. The selected places to investigate the results include: Ramin, Chabahar, Tis, Tiskopan, Vashnam Dari and Merikhi Mountains tourist area which are in the area around the location of the gas refinery, the number of gas refineries that can be built in the Mokran region. The results were compared with the clean air standard of the Iranian Environmental Organization and the standard of the American Environmental Protection Organization(EPA). In this research, the modeling results for two annual periods in the years 1398, 1399 and 1400 and the three-year period of 1398-1400 were extracted. For four refinery units in Ramin, which was one of the selected population areas and 2 km away from the project site, 2000 hours exceeded the standard limit of the American Environmental Protection Agency, which means exceeding the atmospheric environmental capacity of the area in terms of sulfur dioxide pollutant. In Tiskupan and Vashnam Dari for four refinery units in three-year period, respectively 650 hours and 400 hours exceeded the standard limit of the American Environmental Protection Agency. According to the modeling output in Chabahar, Tis and Merikhi Mountains tourist area, the amount of sulfur dioxide pollutant has not exceeded the standard limit. Therefore, the capacity of constructing gas refineries with the specifications considered in the Mokran coastal area is three gas refinery units, and if the fourth refinery unit is developed, it will exceed the permissible limits set in the standard of the American Environmental Protection Organization(EPA), and the region will have a deficit of Atmospheric Environmental Capacity of sulfur dioxide
