  7. Abstract:
  8. These days, the increasing population in smart cities has caused several challenges to transportation systems. One of these challenges is the stop-and-go wase created during traffic, caused by stochastic human behavior and issues in road infrastructure, such as a sudden reduction in road width. Several field experiments show how the presence of a connected and autonomous vehicle (CAV) and human-driven vehicles (HDV) can mitigate the adverse effects of these waves. However, in such conditions, using CAVs, in addition to their many advantages, can also bring disadvantages. One is their vulnerability to cyber-attacks, which aim to disrupt the transportation system's efficiency. One type of these attacks is the denial of service (DoS) attacks, which primarily aim to jam the communication network between the controller and the sensors in a control system. Considering this issue, this research has designed a controller for the mixed traffic system to guarantee stability under this type of attack. To achieve this goal, we first designed a criterion for evaluating the stability of the mixed traffic system under DoS attacks using the Bessel-Legendre inequality. Then, by applying a matrix transformation to the introduced stability criterion, we obtained a set of linear matrix inequalities that calculate the controller coefficients by considering the maximum and minimum attack duration. Finally, we designed several simulations to evaluate the efficiency of the proposed controller
