- The Moderator Termperature Coefficient (MTC) is an important safety parameter in pressurised water reactors (PWRs). The MTC is defined as the change of the reactivity induced by a temperature change of core moderator, devided by the core average moderator temperature change. For safety reasons, it is kept negative at all times on a design basis. For the measurement of the MTC, several traditional techniques used such as the boron dilution method, the power change method, the depletion method, or the rod swap method, have the disadvantage that they interfere with reactor operation, are time consuming and costly. For these reasons, another technique relying on noise analysis was proposed a few years ago that does not require any perturbation of the reactor operation. This thesis aims to analyze the ability of this method in calculation of MTC. This study is about the introduction of two estimators for calculation of Moderator Temperature Coefficient by using noise method. In one of these estimators, local moderator temperature noise has been used for calculation and in the second estimator, average moderator temperature noise has been used. All of calculations will be compared to the reference which is announced by American Nuclear Standard (ANS). The studies demonstrate that in the first estimator, the reason of ignoring the radial heterogeneity of moderator temperature noise and using point-kinetic in extract of this estimator, There is a huge error (about 90%). But in second estimator because of considering the mentioned heterogeneity,the results are more stable and the error possibility is about 8 to 10% the due to the use of point kinetic can be justified for this estimator
