Cerebrovascular Attack Detection Using Artificial Intelligent Neural Network

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Bagheri, Mahdi (Author) ; Bagheri Shouraki, Saeed (Supervisor) ; Haj Sadeghi, Khosrow (Co-Advisor)
    Abstract
Cerebrovascular Attack has been ranked the second or third of top 10 death causes in Taiwan. It has caused about 13,000 deaths every year since 1986. Once Cerebrovascular Attack (CVA) occurs, it not only leads to the huge cost of medical care, but even death. All developed countries in the world put CVA prevention and treatment in high priority. However, it is necessary to build a detective model to enhance the accurate diagnosis of CVA. From this detective model, CVA classification rules were extracted and used to improve the diagnosis and detection of CVA. This study acquired 2449 valid samples from this CVA prevention and treatment program, and adopted three classification algorithms,...

Flight Dynamic Modeling of an Articulated FMAV Using Quasi Steady Aerodynamics

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Ghashghaei, Arash (Author) ; Pourtakdoust, Hossein (Supervisor)
    Abstract
This thesis is focused on flight dynamics modeling and analysis of an articulated Flapping Micro Air Vehicle (FMAV), where the articulating joint is placed near the wing mid chord span. The articulation modeling, its results and verification due to added degrees of freedom are considered the key motivation and novelties of this project. Initial analyses indicated that a simple articulation device such as joint is not appropriate and will not be efficient for flying FMAV. As a corrective action, a spring-damper mechanism was utilized beside the articulation. Subsequently, the kinematics’ equations are developed and verified using the MSC Automated Dynamic Analysis of Mechanical Systems...

Sensitivity Analysis and Optimal Control of a Nano-Newton CMOS-MEMS Capacitive Force Sensor for Biomedical Applications

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Jalil Mozhdehi, Reza (Author) ; Meghdari, Ali (Supervisor) ; Selk Ghafari, Ali (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In the first part of the thesis, we introduce the structure of a Nano-Newton CMOS-MEMS capacitive force sensor. This force sensor has been utilized out-of-plane sensing mechanism with high accuracy and reliability. Also, we discuss about sensitivity analysis of this force sensor. The largest change of capacitance (increased capacitance + decreased capacitance) occurs in ℓ=2/3. Sensitivity for increased capacitance grows by 8.33% and for decreased capacitance grows by 2.27%. The proposed method provides useful guidelines to increase the sensitivity of the sensor up to 250%. In the second part, a fixed structure controller, PID type, is proposed to control and suppress the in-plane vibration...

Dynamic & Vibration Analysis of AFM Probe Affected by the Non Uniform Potential Field

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Kahrobaiyan, Mohammad Hossein (Author) ; Ahmadian, Mohammad Taghi (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Atomic force microscope (AFM) has a significant capability of imaging surface topography on an atomic scale. It is also widely used for Nanolithography in MEMS/NEMS (micro/nanoelectromechanical systems). Conventional AFMs consist of a cantilever with a sharp conical or pyramidal tip located at the free end of the cantilever that plays an important role in AFM measurements. Scanning across a surface, AFM interacts with the sample surface through its tip. Although the dynamic behavior of the AFM cantilever is complicated, the researchers have been interested in studying AFM dynamic behavior because it has a great influence on the surface imaging process. The imaging rate and contrast of...
