    , Article IEEE Signal Processing Letters ; Volume 25, Issue 2 , 2018 , Pages 313-317 ; 10709908 (ISSN) Abtahi, A ; Gazor, S ; Marvasti, F ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
In this letter, we propose a new accurate approach for target localization in multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radars, which exploits the sparse spatial distribution of targets to reduce the sampling rate. We express the received signal of a MIMO radar in terms of the deviations of target parameters from the grid points in the form of a block sparse signal using the expansion around all the neighbor points. Applying a block sparse recovery method, we can estimate both the grid-point locations of targets and these deviations. The proposed approach can yield more accurate localization with higher detection probability compared with its counterparts. Moreover, the proposed approach can...

    Abstract
In this paper, two multiple access methods in time and code domains are compared for Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) channels. Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) has been used for many years and its features are well-known. Characteristics of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) and its advantages over TDMA are studied in this paper. The burstiness nature of voice traffic and unequal bit transmission time in TDMA and CDMA are used to compare the performance of the two techniques. Delay, throughput and packet loss, as performance parameters, are evaluated and computed for data and voice traffics. Capability of CDMA in accommodating sources with different bit rates is also considered....

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Pooya, Ghasem (Author) ; Ardalan,Farhad (Supervisor) ; Mohammadi Najafabadi, Mojtaba (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Anomalous top quark interactions with gluon (tug , tcg) allow the production of single top quarks at the LHC. Two main sources of backgrounds which we took into account are W +1j and standard model single top production. In order to do it, we examine the reconstructed angular distribution of the charged lepton in the rest frame of W boson from the top quark. It is defined in terms of the angle θ_l , between the charged lepton momentum in the rest frame of the W boson and the momentum of the W boson in the rest frame of the top quark. Using this angular distribution of the charged lepton from the W boson in the top decay، we show that with the data of 10fb^(-1) of integrated luminosity and...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Abtahi, Pooya (Author) ; Rahimzadeh Rofooei, Fayaz (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The detuning of the structures equipped with Tuned Mass Dampers (TMDs) caused by their nonlinear behavior under strong ground motions is a real concern in their practical application. This thesis presents a feasibility study on the effectiveness of TMDs in reducing the seismic response and the resulting structural damage of reinforced concrete structures under intense ground motion. A number of 2-D concrete moment resisting frames with different numbers of stories are considered. TMDs are used as a mean to protect these structural models against ground excitation. The mass of TMDs are varied from 1% to 5% of the first effective modal mass of the structural models. IDARC 2-D program is used...

    Abstract
For the target parameter estimation in MIMO radars in the presence of strong clutter, non-adaptive compressive sensing methods have a poor performance. On the other hand, the adaptive ones usually need higher data acquisition time. In this paper, we propose an adaptive compressive sensing method called L-BGT that has tolerable data acquisition time. furthermore, we have presented the essential changes in a distributed MIMO radar to exploit an adaptive group testing compressive sensing method

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology gharravy, Sorayya (Author) ; Habibi, Jafar (Supervisor) ; Abtahi, Ebrahim (Co-Advisor)
    Abstract
Programmers often use object-oriented application frameworks, such as Eclipse, due to their several advantages, some of which are: providing a standard platform for designing and implementing software systems, enabling the reuse of both code and design, reducing the development’s time and costs, and increasing the maintainability of systems. However, frameworks evolve over time because of new requirements or fixing bugs. Therefore, the programs that had been written on top of those frameworks also need to evolve to become compatible with them; otherwise, they may crash. This thesis presents an approach that comprehends the evolution of frameworks through comprehending the evolution of the...

    Abstract
Because of errors in the geometric parameters of parallel robots, it is necessary to calibrate them to improve the positioning accuracy for accurate task performance. Traditionally, to perform system calibration, one needs to measure a number of robot poses using an external measuring device. However, this process is often time-consuming, expensive and difficult for robot on-line calibration. In this paper, a methodical way of calibration of parallel robots is introduced. This method is performable only by measuring joint variable vector and positioning differences relative to a constant position in some sets of configurations that the desired positions in each set are fixed, but the moving...

Development of a Real-Time Heuristic Algorithm to Integrate Inertial and Celestial Navigation Systems

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Abtahi, Farhad (Author) ; Nobahari, Hadi (Supervisor) ; GhanbarpourAsl, Habib (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Unscented kalman filter is able to integrate strapdown inertial navigation system (SINS) and celestial navigation system (CNS) and estimate current attitude and gyro drift precisely. However, initial attitude error, accelerometer bias and attitude error caused by gyro drift prior to CNS setting to work may cause large errors in velocity and position. So a novel method is presented for compensating these errors. The proposed method implements Fixed-interval smoothing to the integrated system. The procedure of filtering, smoothing and accelerometer bias estimation has been explained in details. The validity of the designed method has been proved through a simulation which admits the capability...

Towards A Framework for Knowledge Acquisition in Decision Support System in Software Architecture Domain

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Ziaie, Azarakhsh (Author) ; Habibi, Jafar (Supervisor) ; Abtahi, Ebrahim (Co-Advisor)
    Abstract
Making Decision about software architecture design is a multi-criteria problem which depends on different factors. One of the main problems in software architecture is the high cost and complexity of Decision making which is rooted in knowledge vaporiza-tion. In fact current developers of the system are not necessarily the primary designers of the architect. Thus, the system cannot be understood without the knowledge about the history of the architecture. Additionally, a good organization of knowledge will be helpful in terms of knowledge reuse and best practices which leads to low cost of architecture.Due to the importance of knowledge in software architecture, knowledge acquisition as well...

    Abstract
The chaotic dynamics of roto-translatory motion of a triaxial Kelvin-type gyrostat satellite under gravity gradient perturbations is considered. The Hamiltonian approach is used for modelling of the coupled spin-orbit equations of motion. The complex Hamiltonian of the system is reduced via the extended Deprit canonical transformation using the Serret- Andoyer variables. Therefore, this reduction leads to the derivation of the perturbation form of the Hamiltonian that can be used in the Ricci curvature criterion based on the Riemannian manifold geometry for the analysis of chaos phenomenon. The results obtained from Ricci method as well as the values from the Lyapunov exponent demonstrate...

    Abstract
This article aims to compensate the velocity and position errors that exist when the star sensor starts to work in a strapdown inertial navigation system aided by celestial navigation. These systems are integrated via unscented Kalman filter to estimate the current attitude and the gyros fixed bias, precisely. Since an accurate integration is desired, the nonlinear attitude equations are utilized in filter and these equations are propagated through a precise discretization method. Then, implementing the back-propagation and smoothing techniques, the initial attitude and the accelerometers fixed bias are also estimated. Finally, carrying out a parallel navigation, the velocity and position...

Nonlinear analysis and attitude control of a gyrostat satellite with chaotic dynamics using discrete-time LQR-OGY

    , Article Asian Journal of Control ; 2016 ; 15618625 (ISSN) Abtahi, S. M ; Sadati, S. H ; Salarieh, H ; Sharif University of Technology
    Wiley-Blackwell  2016
    Abstract
Quasi-periodic and chaotic behavior, along with the control of chaos for a Gyrostat satellite (GS), is investigated in this work. The quaternion-based dynamical model of the GS is first derived, and then the influences of the reaction wheels in the GS structure, under the gravity gradient perturbation that causes a route to chaos through quasi-periodicity mechanism, is investigated. For the suppression of chaos in the system, a chaos control system with the quaternion feedback is designed for the GS based on the extension of the Ott-Grebogi-Yorke (OGY) method using the linearization of the Poincaré map. In the extended OGY controller, the Poincaré map is estimated using the Least Square...

Minimum Rebar Price Forecast in Commodity Exchange with Machine Learning

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Abtahi Forushani, Mahmoud (Author) ; Shadrokh Sikari, Shahram (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In recent years, in addition to the stock market, a market has been created in Iran under the name of commodity exchange market. In this market, the product supplier announces some product specifications and buyers also announce their demand and bid price. The following two situations may occur: 1. The total amount of demand is less than or equal to the amount of supply. In this case all buyers receive the product at their bid price. Obviously, first all buyers announce a price lower than the base price so that if this happens, they can buy the required product at the lowest possible price. 2. If the supply is less than the demand, the market enters the competition. In this way, the new bid...
