Compressed Sensing Application in Radar Field (SAR)

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Hariri, Alireza (Author) ; Bastani, Mohammad Hassan (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Although up to now different processing algorithms have been proposed for Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) raw data, all of them suffer from one common problem and that is huge amount of data to be processed. So because of current system limitations, efficient compression algorithms for processing, saving, or transmitting data are needed. Up to now many algorithms have been proposed for SAR raw data compression, but each of them has some defects that should be payed attention to. The most important reason of these defects is the special characteristics of SAR images. With the aid of “Compressed Sensing (CS)”, the new field which has emerged recently, a special characteristic of the scene...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Ghanbarzadeh, Soheil (Author) ; Saeedi, Mohammad Hassan (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In order to safe design and optimize performance of industrial systems which work under two phase flow conditions, it’s often needed to categorize flow into different regimes. In present work the experiments of two phase flow were done in a large scale test facility with length of 6m and 5cm diameter. Four main flow regimes were observed in vertical air-water two phase flows at moderate superficial velocities of gas and water: Bubbly, Slug, Churn and Annular. Some image processing techniques were used to extract information from each picture. This information includes number of bubbles or objects, area, perimeter, height and width of objects (second phase). Also a texture feature extraction...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Hassan Nejad, Hesam (Author) ; Kazemeini, Mohammad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
High demand and price and restricted availability of Platinum Group Metals (PGMs) have made platinum recovery a major field of study for researchers and industries. Various methods have been introduced for this purpose. Ion exchange, leaching and liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) are just a few examples. Nowadays Solvent Extraction (SX) is one of the most challenging areas of study for platinum recovery from spent catalysts due to its simplicity and optimum cost. In this study, the commercial spent catalyst’s platinum was dissolved in aqua-regia after XRF analysis. Then it was extracted by the organic material Trioctylphosphineoxide diluted in toluene in the presence of Alkaline metal salts....

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Honarvar, Mohammad Amin (Author) ; Hoseini, Hassan (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In the first description if we describe technology as a tool, Communication technologies or media should be consider as the most important element of today's technological world. This research is going to cover reconsidering and recreating the mean of media based on the Ideas of JacquesDerrida. In this regard, two major dichotomy is evident in the public understanding of media. meanwhile "media versus message" and on the other hand opposition between "media and audience". So deconstruction in the face of these binary oppositions, want to read out the notion that message is superior to media, and on the other hand to deconstruction of the hegemony of the media on the audience

    Abstract
In the study of heat transfer in micro-channels, free and force convections are two limit cases and these two methods of heat transfer are combined together generally, so to achieve the most accurate informations about the flow field they should be considered in combination. In the first part of the thesis the fully developed slip flow mixed convection in vertical micro-ducts of arbitrary shapes is investigated.Uniform axial heat flux and uniform peripheral wall temperature (H1) is considered. The method considered is analytical-numerical in which the governing equations and three of the boundary conditions are exactly satisfied but the remaining slip boundary condition on the duct wall...

Flow of Saliva in a Lab-on-a-chip under Electrokinetic Body Force

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Zandi, Mohammad (Author) ; Saeedi, Mohammad Hassan (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The lab-on-a-chip (LOC) devices utilizing electroosmosis for flow actuation are usually encountered with non-Newtonian behavior of working fluids. Hence, studying the flow of non-Newtonian fluids under an electroosmotic body force is of high importance for accurate design and active control of these devices. In this thesis, mixed electroosmotically and pressure driven flow of salivathrough a rectangular microchannel is examined utilizing two viscoelastic constitutive equations, namely PTT and FENE-P models. Since the hydrodynamic entry length is usually negligible for microflows, a hydrodynamically developed flow is considered in the analysis. The governing equations in dimensionless form...

Haptic Design for Steering Mechanism in a System for Remote Vehicle Driving

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Sajjadi, Mohammad Reza (Author) ; Salarieh, Hassan (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The purpose of this thesis is to design haptic control system for vehicle steering mechanism in a tele-driving system. Thus the subject is a developed subject in comparison with a steer by wire system. The difference is that in the steer by wire system, due to the lack of delay in sending and receiving data, possibility of instability is very low. This subject makes haptic control more difficult in vehicle tele-driving. Control of vehicle tele-driving steering system has been done by different bilateral control structures available in the literature. simulation results of the case that there is no delay in the transmission block suggest that used different control structures in order to...

Effect of Post Buckling Rupture on the Deformation Capacity of Concentrate Braces

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Saji, Mohammad Reza (Author) ; Moghaddam, Hassan (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this study the behavior of steel bracings under cyclic loading, is modeled with finite element method. Analysis have shown that after local buckling in plastic mid-span position, due to the severe geometry change, the strain grows rapidly, The sharp growth of plastic strains is entitled as strain rises. Geometry change created will cause the collapse brace speeding up. In fact, the main local buckling can be used as a determinative factor in performance base design for steel braces. So the thesis has been investigated, using the parameters fracture life to quantify local buckling and fracture. Also with using the CVGM model, the fracture of the brace could be predicted. The analytical...

    Abstract
Studies regarding Multiple Input - Multiple Output synthetic aperture radars, shows promising advances in synthetic aperture imaging. Compared to conventional SAR, MIMO-SAR encompasses desirable features, namely: lower background noise, better detection rate, easier implementation of imaging modes etc. Signals used in these radars, are required to have specific properties such as orthogonality, large time-bandwidth product, high Doppler tolerance and qualified ambiguity function. Also because of the specific geometry of SAR imaging, these signals should remain orthogonal in respectively large Doppler shifts and time offsets. Through the past years, many signals are suggested in the...

A one-turn Pyrex PHP was also used to fully visualize flow patterns in the PHP. Our results showed that the material that a PHP made of and temperature of working fluid...

Investigation of the Geometry Effect on Electrokinetic Instability in Microflows

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Mohammadzadeh, Alireza (Author) ; Saidi, Mohammad Hassan (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Lab-on-a-chip devices have gained a lot of attention in chemical and biomedical analyses during the past two decades. These devices employ microfluidics basics and fundamentals to combine multifold laboratory processes in one single portable chip. The electric field has been often used in most microfluidics applications for the ease of sample control as well as become easily integrated to other chip components. Instabilities in microflows would occur when two fluids of different electric properties are exposed to an adequately strong electric field. Studying these electrokinetic instabilities is not only important for the fundamental studies but also for practical applications in micromixers...
