    Power-aware performance analysis of self-adaptive resource management in IaaS clouds

    Abstract
    In this paper, Stochastic Activity Networks (SANs) are used to model and evaluate the performance and power consumption of an Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) cloud. The proposed SAN model is scalable and flexible, yet encompasses some details of an IaaS cloud, such as Virtual Machine (VM) provisioning, VM multiplexing, and failure/repair behavior of VMs. Using the proposed SAN, a power-aware self-adaptive resource management scheme is presented for IaaS clouds that automatically adjusts the number of powered-on Physical Machines (PMs) regarding variable workloads in different time intervals.     Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) clouds not only have to meet business requirements but also need to consider other important metrics that influence the quality of service, such as performance, availability, and power consumption. In this paper, we present a Stochastic Activity Network (SAN) based analytical approach that simultaneously computes these metrics under a given load for IaaS cloud data centers.     A new dioxomolybdenum(VI) complex, (Cis-[MoO2(L)])n, has been synthesized by reacting 4-bromo-2-((2-hydroxy-5-methylphenylimino)methyl)phenol as a ligand and [MoO2(acac)2] in methanolic solution. For characterization and structure determination of the synthesized complex, different techniques were performed such as elemental analyses, 1H NMR, IR, UV-Vis and X-ray crystallography. The complex was tested as a catalyst for the homogeneous epoxidation of olefins, using tert-butyl hydperoxide (TBHP) as an oxidant.     Cooperation of nodes for routing and packet forwarding is inevitable in a mobile ad hoc network. Selfishness in such networks is a significant challenge and can cause network performance to noticeably degrade. In this paper, we propose some new selfishness models elicited from psychological behavior of human beings. We also evaluate performance of MANET in the presence of different percentages of selfish nodes that act based on our selfishness models.     In this paper, a mesh-less numerical approach is utilized to solve Euler's equation that is the governing equation of the irrotational flow of ideal fluids. A fractional step method of discritization is applied which consists to split each time step in two steps. This numerical method is based on moving-particle semi-implicit method (MPS) for simulating incompressible inviscid flows with free surfaces.     In this work, a two-dimensional fourth-order Boussinesq-type numerical model is applied to estimate the impact of landslide-generated waves in dam reservoirs. This numerical model has recently been extended for simulating subaerial landslides. The extended model is validated using available three-dimensional experimental data, and a good agreement is obtained.     In this study a locally mass conservative finite volume method (FVM) is employed to simulate the coupled model of flow and geomechanics for the land subsidence problem.     In this work, Weakly Compressible Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (WCSPH) is applied for numerical simulation of impulsive wave. Properties of linear and angular momentum in WCSPH formulation are studied. Kernel gradient of viscous term in momentum equation is corrected to ensure preservation of angular momentum. Corrected WCSPH method is used to simulate solitary Scott Russell wave and applied to simulate impulsive wave generated by two-dimensional under water landslide.
