    Abstract
    Monitoring embankment dams is of crucial importance. In earth dams, the pore pressures, earth pressures, and displacements occurring during construction and function are measured at the time of the first impounding and exploitation by installing essential instruments, and so the dam's performance is evaluated and analyzed. Scope of the present research is the evaluation of Siah-Sang Dam performance through the results of instruments and back analysis, conducted by FLAC software. The Mohr-Coulomb elasticplastic model has been considered as the behavioral model of the dam, and the effect of the upstream shell's materials deformation has been modeled at the time of the initial impounding....

    Abstract
    A nonlinear robust adaptive sliding mode admittance controller is proposed for exoskeleton rehabilitation robots. The proposed controller has robustness against uncertainties of dynamic parameters using an adaptation law. Furthermore, an adaptive Sliding Mode Control (SMC) scheme is employed in the control law to provide robustness against disturbances (non-parametric uncertainties) with unknown bounds. For this purpose, another adaptation law is defined for the variation of the SMC gain.     Abstract
    This paper investigates resonance phenomenon in active filters. The paper studies the effect of system/filter parameters on resonance conditions. It also proposes an active technique for damping such resonances. The study is based on modal analysis in which unstable modes or modes with slow damping are first extracted. Then, using a new technique, such modes are considerably damped. PSCAD/EMTDC software is also employed to verify the performance of the proposed technique. © 2008 ACECR

    Surface modification of orthopedic implants using titanium dioxide nanotubes and silver nanoparticles (SNs) is a promising approach to prevent bacteria adhesion, biofilm formation, and implant infection. Herein, we utilized a straightforward and all-solution process to prepare silver-decorated TiO2 nanotube arrays with surface density of 10(3) to 10(4) per µm(2).     As the infrastructure-centric model of peer-to-peer streaming, recent overlay construction schemes compose a hierarchical topology of peers by grouping them into clusters. There is a server in each cluster that receives data from the source and relays it to its cluster members. In this paper, we propose an alternative infrastructure-centric peer-to-peer framework called BAHMO that constructs a hierarchical multicast tree. BAHMO does not utilize server bandwidth and rely only on peer bandwidth for data transfers.     Abstract
    A high-temperature-resisant solid-phase microextraction (SPME) fiber was prepared based on polyetherimide (PEI) by the electrospinning method. The PEI polymeric solution was converted to nanofibers using high voltages and directly coated on a stainless steel SPME needle. The scanning electron microscopy images of PEI coating showed fibers with diameter range of 500-650 nm with a homogeneous and smooth surface morphology.     A pyrrole-based conductive polymer was prepared and applied as new sorbent for on-line solid-phase extraction (SPE) of phenol and chlorophenols from water samples. Polypyrrole (PPy) was synthesized by chemical oxidation of the monomer in non-aqueous solution.     2-Mercaptobenzimidazole, loaded on silica gel (MBI-SG) was used for preconcentration and speciation of iron(II) and iron(III) in water samples. The speciation is based upon selective retention of iron(III) on MBI-SG sorbent and quantitatively passing iron(II) ions. This type of sorbent was not only capable of separating theses two ions but also could concentrate them. Here, we aimed to determine discriminatory metabolomic profiles in different stages of sulfur mustard-exposed patients (SMEPs). Materials and methods: Nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy was used to analyze serum samples from 17 SMEPs (normal group patients) and 17 SMEPs (severe group patients).     A headspace adsorptive microextraction technique was developed using a novel polyaniline-nylon-6 (PANI-N6) nanofiber sheet, fabricated by electrospinning.     One of the main parts of peer-to-peer multicast is the structure of overlay network. Most of the existing works utilize some common parameters for constructing overlay tree. These parameters are bandwidth and delay. The mismatch between current overlay structure and underlying network topology causes severe link stress and then leads to high end to end latency.
