    Abstract
    In situ mixing by dispersive transport of salt and viscous fingering between the injected low-salinity (LS) brine and high-salinity (HS) formation brine can jeopardize the performance of low-salinity waterflooding (LSWF). In our previous papers, we demonstrated that in situ mixing can be suppressed by polymer-enhanced low-salinity waterflooding (PELS), in which a small amount of a viscosifying agent, such as a polymer, is added to the LS stream.     Abstract
    We are concerned with an open shop scheduling problem having sequence-dependent setup times. A novel bi-objective possibilistic mixed-integer linear programming model is presented. Sequence-dependent setup times, fuzzy processing times and fuzzy due dates with triangular possibility distributions are the main constraints of this model. An open shop scheduling problem with these considerations is close to the real production scheduling conditions. The objective functions are to minimize total weighted tardiness and total weighted completion times.     Abstract
    In this paper, for the first time, we present a computational study on electrical characteristics of field effect tunneling transistors based on a vertical graphene-WS2 heterostructure and vertical graphene nanoribbon (GNR)-WS2 heterostructure (VTGNRFET). Our model uses the nonequilibrium Green's function formalism along with an atomistic tight binding (TB) method. The TB parameters are extracted by fitting the bandstructure to first principles results. We show that, due to the advantage of switching between tunneling and thermionic transport regimes, an improvement can be achieved in the electrical characteristics of the device.     Using non-equilibrium Green’s function method and density functional theory, we study the effect of line structural defects on the electron transport of zigzag molybdenum disulfide (MoS 2 ) nanoribbons. Here, the various types of non-stoichiometric line defects greatly affect the electron conductance of MoS 2 nanoribbons. Although such defects would be lead to the electron scattering, they can increase the transmission of charge carriers by creating new channels. In addition, the presence of S bridge defect in the zigzag MoS 2 nanoribbon leads to more the transmission of charge carriers in comparison with the Mo–Mo bond defect.     Using a tight-binding approach and first-principles calculations combined with the nonequilibrium Green’s function method, the thermal spin transport in a zigzag molybdenum disulfide (MoS 2) nanoribbon in the proximity of a ferromagnetic insulator that induces a local exchange magnetic field in the center of the nanoribbon is investigated. It is found that a pure spin current and perfect spin Seebeck effect with zero charge current can be generated by applying a thermal gradient and local exchange magnetic field without a bias voltage near room temperature.     Gas-oil relative permeability is essential for performance predictions of reservoirs with solutions for gas drive, gas cap expansion, or gas injection. The nature of flow in reservoir is determined by the interplay of relative permeability and viscous, gravity, and capillary forces. Displacement experiments of the gas-oil system are performed on long core scale models by varying the petrophysical properties and flow conditions.     Abstract
    A number of forced gravity drainage experiments have been conducted using a wide range of the physical and operational parameters, wherein the type, length, and permeability of the porous medium as well as oil viscosity and injection rate were varied. Results indicate that an increase in the Bond number has a positive effect on oil recovery whereas the capillary number has an opposite effect. These trends were observed over a two-order of magnitude change in the value of the dimensionless groups. Furthermore, it was found that use of each number alone is insufficient to obtain a satisfactory correlation with recovery.     The performance analysis of junctionless (JL) gate-all-around (GAA) metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistors (MOSFETs) is investigated using the Non-Equilibrium Green's Function (NEGF) formalism. The main problem of JL transistors is found to be the OFF-state current. In the present work, the OFF-state current of such devices is decreased by choosing channel materials with a large band gap and heavy effective mass. Our simulation results show that the OFF-state current of JL transistors with p-type GaAs is less than that of n-type GaAs.     The present study was carried out to evaluate the degradation efficiency of benzene, toluene, and xylene (BTX) by isolated bacteria from various petroleum-hydrocarbons contaminated sites. Five isolated bacteria were selected for testing BTX biodegradation from liquid culture media. Each of these bacteria was able to degrade BTX but with different efficiencies. Maximum biodegradation efficiency for benzene (more than 70 %) was obtained by Gram-positive coccobacillus, Gram-positive coccus and Gram-negative bacillus bacteria, for toluene (60 %) and xylene (70 %) by Gram-positive coccobacillus and Gram-negative coccobacillus. This enzyme was an intracellular one which was produced under suitable conditions. Crude enzyme was released after cell disruption by ultrasonic waves (sonication method) and was partially purified by ammonium sulphate precipitation.     Abstract
    In this work two phenol biosensors, one based on polyaniline nanofibers (PNFs) and the other based on the newly created and introduced linear-dendritic matrix of poly(citric acid)-block-poly(ethylene glycol) copolymers (PCA-PEG-PCA), were chemically modified with horseradish peroxidase (HRP) enzyme. These phenol biosensors showed an oxidation peak at 0.55 V. The amperometric response for biosensors based on PNFs showed a linear response range from 2.5 × 10-6 to 2.5 × 10-5 mol/L, with a detection limit of 2.5 M phenol. Also, the amperometric response for a biosensor based on PCA-PEG-PCA showed a linear response range from 2.5 × 10-6 to 4 × 10-5 mol/L, with a detection limit of 1.5 M phenol

    We report a density functional non-equilibrium Green's function study of electrical transport in a single molecular conductor consisting of an ethane-dithiolate (C2H4S2) molecular wire with two sulfur end groups bonded to the Au(1 1 1) electrodes. We show that the current was increased by increasing the external voltage biases. The projected density of states (PDOS) and transmission coefficients T(E) under various external voltage biases are analyzed, and it suggests that the variation of the coupling between the molecule and the electrodes with external bias leads to the increase of the current.
