    Abstract
To efficiently enhance the contrast obtaining from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), pharmaceutical grade colloidal dispersions of PEG coated iron-based nanoparticles were prepared and compared to conventional pure iron oxide contrast agent. In this study, we synthesized ∼14 nm iron nanoparticles via NaBH4 reduction of iron(III) chloride in an aqueous medium. The resulting nanoparticles were further oxidized by two different methods via (CH3)3NO oxygen transferring agent and exposure to oxygen flow. XRD and electron microscopy analyses confirmed the formation of a second layer on the surface of α-Fe core. As magnetic measurements and Mössbauer spectra of 4-months post prepared nanoparticles...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Sadeghi Alavijeh, Ali Reza (Author) ; Kokabi, Amir Hossein (Supervisor) ; Seyed Reihani, Morteza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this project, Dissimilar Friction Stir Welding (FSW) between aluminum alloys (1100-H12 and 5083-O) and Magnesium alloy (AZ31B-O) with 3mm thickness were butt joined. Fusion welding of aluminum/magnesium alloys has failed because of forming much more intermetallic compounds. By using friction stir welded samples, effect of welding parameters such as tool travel speed, tool rotation rate, tool position respect to weld centerline, and sheet position respect to tool direction on mechanical (tensile strength, yield strength and elongation) and microstructural properties of the welds were investigated. After several tests, range of optimum parameters were obtained. In both 1100 and 5083 alloys,...

Growth of Perovskite Film based on Lead Iodide by Controlling Deposition Parameters for Solar Cells Application

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Tafazoli, Saeedeh (Author) ; Mohammadi, Mohammad Reza (Supervisor) ; Seyed Reihani, Morteza (Supervisor) ; Riahi, Nastaran (Co-Advisor)
    Abstract
Perovskite solar cells, with high efficiency operation, have been candidated as a cost-effective and environmentally friendly technology. Despite the great progress, there are some primarily issues remained regarding to the perovskite film and its fabrication methods. A very common perovskite cell structure is FTO/TiO2/CH3NH3PbI3/Spiro-OMeTAD/Au. Although, this structure has some advantages, lack of full surface coverage of perovskite film leads researchers to put much effort on finding other constructions. This surface inhomogeneity reduces the amount of light absorption and therefore efficiency. One way to produce a complete and uniform film is applying mixed-halide composition; such as...

    Abstract
The performance of a polymeric membrane in an ultrafiltration system under the chosen optimum conditions was studied. To achieve this, four real produced waters were dealt with. To find the optimum conditions, Taguchi method was applied. Results showed that PAN350 membrane is a potential candidate for industrial applications for three feeds which contained oil and total organic carbon (TOC) less than 1,500 and 300 ppm, respectively. The values of oil/grease, total suspended solids, and turbidity rejections were approximately 100%. Although TOC could not be entirely removed, the removal values for TOC were acceptable in this study. For the fourth feed due to the values of oil and TOC which...

Stanley depth of the integral closure of monomial ideals

    , Article Collectanea Mathematica ; Volume 64, Issue 3 , November , 2013 , Pages 351-362 ; 00100757 (ISSN) Seyed Fakhari, S. A ; Sharif University of Technology
    2013
    Abstract
Let I be a monomial ideal in the polynomial ring S=K [x1,... xn]. We study the Stanley depth of the integral closure Ī of I. We prove that for every integer k ≥ 1, the inequalities (S/Ik) ≤ sdepth (S/Ī) and sdepth(Ik) ≤ sdepth(Ī) hold. We also prove that for every monomial ideal I⊂ S there exist integers k1,k2≥ 1, such that for every s≥ 1, the inequalities sdepth (S/Isk1) ≤ sdepth(S/Ī) and sdepth (Isk2) ≤ sdepth (Ī) hold. In particular, mink{sdepth(S/Ik)} ≤ sdepth(S/Ī) and min̄k {sdepth (Ik)}≤ sdepth(Ī). We conjecture that for every integrally closed monomial ideal I, the inequalities sdepth(S/I)≥ n-l (I) and sdepth (I)≥ n-l (I)+1 hold, where l (I) is the analytic spread of I. Assuming the...

    Abstract
The secure hash algorithm (SHA)-3 has been selected in 2012 and will be used to provide security to any application which requires hashing, pseudo-random number generation, and integrity checking. This algorithm has been selected based on various benchmarks such as security, performance, and complexity. In this paper, in order to provide reliable architectures for this algorithm, an efficient concurrent error detection scheme for the selected SHA-3 algorithm, i.e., Keccak, is proposed. To the best of our knowledge, effective countermeasures for potential reliability issues in the hardware implementations of this algorithm have not been presented to date. In proposing the error detection...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Nobahar, Masoud (Author) ; Eskandari, Morteza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The propagation behavior of Love wave in functionally graded magneto-electro-elastic half-spaces with a quadratic variation is addressed. The magneto-electromechanical coupling factor, the dispersion relations, electric potential, magnetic potential and displacement are obtained analytically for both magneto-electrically open and short conditions. The effect of gradient coefficient on phase velocity, group velocity and magneto-electromechanical coupling factor are plotted and discussed. Research on the wave propagation in magneto-electro-elastic materials is still very limited. This work provides us with a theoretical foundation to design and practically apply SAW devices with high...

Modeling Reaction and Distribution of Water in Nanopores of the Cathode Catalyst Layer of PEM Fuel Cell

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Nushak, Fatemeh (Author) ; baghalha, morteza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In the proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEM, the produced water would be divided into two phases of vapor and liquid. distribution of both liquid and vapor phases in different cell layers affects the performance, the efficiency and the life of a fuel cell significantly. Moreover, Nano pores of the cathode catalyst layer are involved with some phenomena such as electrochemical reaction kinetics, heat and mass transfer and interface phase change. One of the most important problems in the performance of fuel cells is distribution of liquid water in the porous areas. Water flooding in fuel cells causes to delay in oxygen transport to active sites in the catalyst layer because the pores of...

Elastic Analysis of a Surface Stiffened Transversely Isotropic Half-space Under a Buried Horizontal Point Load

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Naghib, Hamed (Author) ; Eskandari, Morteza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this study, the interaction between thin plate completely bonded to the transversely isotropic halfspace and a concentrated force applied horizontally (Mindlin-type force) are considered. This problem has been solved analytically. This problem is used as sample for thin solid films and surface coating technology, where the surface of solid is covered by thethin plate for increasing its stiffness. Moreover, this problem is a good sample when homogenous solid is subjected to contact loading and can be seen that mechanical properties of material which is near the solid surface varies; consequently, a two-phase solid is created.Because of the influence of noted inhomogeneity, solid is...

Database Schema Extraction Prevention Through DBMS Error Handling

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Naghdi, Sepideh (Author) ; Amini, Morteza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Nowadays large volume of sensitive data of organizations are stored in the databases. Thus, databases are attractive to the attackers to execute different types of attacks with different purposes. The useful information that attackers try to achieve in the preliminary steps of the attacks against the databases, is the database structure or schema. One of the popular approach to extract the schema of a database is to analyze the returned error messages from its DBMS. Hence, a solution to prevent schema disclosure via the error messages is customizing and modifying them. To achieve this goal, in this thesis, we propose a framework to handle and customize the error messages automatically and...
