    Abstract
Theoretical study of NH3(H2O) n=0,1,2,3 adsorption on (8, 0) carbon nanotube was performed at the X3LYP/6-31G* level of density functional theory (DFT). The tube-NH3 interaction was discussed in the terms of binding energy (EB), coupling energy (EC), charge density, molecular orbitals, and dipole moments. The results reveal that addition of water molecules to tube-NH3 system increases the interaction between tube and ammonia molecule

    , Article 2012 6th International Symposium on Telecommunications, IST 2012, 6 November 2012 through 8 November 2012 ; November , 2012 , Pages 982-986 ; 9781467320733 (ISBN) Khosravi, M ; Soleymanpour-Moghaddam, S ; Mahyabadi, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    2012
    Abstract
In this paper, a novel steganographic method is proposed which is based on the spatial domain: Least Significant Bit (LSB). The LSB matching method proposed by Mielikainen utilizes a binary function to reduce the number of changed pixel values. While in this paper a bipolar evaluating system is proposed to assess the performance of different orders for LSB matching. Afterward a genetic algorithm strategy is employed to search for an optimal solution among all the permutation orders. The experimental results show that by employing the proposed bipolar evaluating system, the distortion of the stego-image is reduced while the probability of detection is decreased

    Abstract
Predicting the effective elastic properties of carbon nanotube-reinforced nanocomposites is of great interest to many structural designers and engineers for improving material and configuration design in recent years. In this paper, a finite element model of a CNT composite has been developed using the Representative volume element (RVE) to evaluate the effective material properties of nanocomposites. Based on this model, the effects of geometrical characteristics such as the aspect ratio, orientation and volume fraction of the CNTs in conjunction with the interphase behavior on the mechanical properties of the nanocomposites are elucidated and the elastic properties of a complex polymeric...

Lensing effects in inhomogeneous cosmological models

    , Article Physical Review D - Particles, Fields, Gravitation and Cosmology ; Volume 79, Issue 10 , 2009 ; 15507998 (ISSN) Ghassemi, S ; Khoeini Moghaddam, S ; Mansouri, R ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Concepts developed in the gravitational lensing techniques such as shear, convergence, tangential, and radial arcs maybe used to see how tenable inhomogeneous models proposed to explain the acceleration of the universe models are. We study the widely discussed Lemaitre-Tolman-Bondi (LTB) cosmological models. It turns out that for the observer sitting at origin of a global LTB solution the shear vanishes as in the Friedmann-Robertson-Walker models, while the value of convergence is different, which may lead to observable cosmological effects. We also consider Swiss-cheese models proposed recently based on LTB with an observer sitting in the Friedmann-Robertson-Walker part. It turns out that...

    Abstract
We used a method to evaluate angular accuracy for air showers direction recorded by a pentagon array of scintillation detectors. This is achieved by using the coincidences between the air showers recorded by the two sub-arrays. Also, using the CORSIKA code the angular precision of this array and the effect of inherent error on it is obtained at different energies of the primary particles and at different zenith angles. © 2020 Elsevier B.V

    Abstract
The seismic behavior of stainless-steel built-up box columns subjected to constant axial loads and cyclic lateral deformation that are used in special moment frames (SMFs) has been investigated through finite element (FE) analysis. A total of 208 numerical models were conducted to cover a range of parameters affecting the seismic behavior of the columns. These include the web slenderness ratio, flange slenderness ratio, global slenderness ratio, axial load level, and lateral loading protocol. The performance indices of overstrength factor, axial shortening, out-of-plane deformation, plastic hinge length, and rotation capacity were calculated and compared. Local buckling of the columns also...

    Abstract
In this research, multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were modified by dendritic macromonomer. Herein, polyamidoamine with acrylamide end groups was incorporated on MWCNTs. Afterwards, poly(N-isopropylacrylamide), (PNIPAM), was grafted on polyamidoamine in a facile synthesis. Then, doxorubicin as anticancer drug was loaded on this nanocarrier. The drug release was studied at below and above the lower critical solution temperature of PNIPAM, (LCST 32 °C), 27 °C and 37 °C, respectively. At 37 °C (body temperature) the polymer shell dehydrated and the drug release increased. The profile of drug release was expressed by Higuchi's equation which indicated that the drug release mechanism was...

An appropriate multiple criteria decision making method for solving electricity planning problems, addressing sustainability issue

    , Article International Journal of Environmental Science and Technology ; Volume 8, Issue 3 , June , 2011 , Pages 605-620 ; 17351472 (ISSN) Bagheri Moghaddam, N ; Nasiri, M ; Mousavi, S. M ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
In the past, decision making within the energy sector, especially in Iran, was limited to economic analysis. Lately, multiple criteria decision making has gained great popularity. However, this is not enough to make a right decision by considering sustainability. This paper deals with designing an appropriate multiple criteria decision making method to address the multifaceted nature of such problems. This task is the second precondition to make a decision which meets the sustainability criterion. This is done by revealing new facts about quantitative and qualitative data and the degree of compensation between the criteria. Moreover, this paper illustrates the capability of different methods...

    Abstract
In this paper, we introduce a new cost function for SIR-Based uplink power control algorithms that takes into account transmission power level as well as target Signal-to-Interference Ratio (SIR) deviation. Existence of Nash equilibrium point, its uniqueness and the algorithm convergence are proved in the framework of so-called standard power control schemes. As shown through simulations, the proposed method results in significant transmit power reduction while achieving almost the same average SIR level. In addition, it is shown that the new scheme results in improved overall network fairness in comparison with another algorithm

    Abstract
The dynamic nature of today’s manufacturing industry, which is caused by the intense global competition and constant technological advancements, requires systems that are highly adaptive and responsive to demand fluctuations. Reconfigurable manufacturing systems (RMS) enable such responsiveness through their main characteristics. This paper addresses the problem of RMS configuration design, where the demand of a single product varies throughout its production life cycle, and the system configuration must change accordingly to satisfy the required demand with minimum cost. A two-phased method is developed to handle the primary system configuration design and the necessary system...
