    Abstract
    Within the elasticity formulation the most general displacement field for hygrothermal problems of long laminated composite plates is presented. The equivalent single-layer theories are then employed to determine the global deformation parameters appearing in the displacement fields of general cross-ply, symmetric, and antisymmetric angle-ply laminates under thermal and hygroscopic loadings. Reddy's layerwise theory is subsequently used to determine the local deformation parameters of various displacement fields.     Abstract
    During transient tests, both pressure and temperature are changed depending on downhole flow rate. In gas producing wells, Joule-Thomson cooling and frictional heating effects are the main dynamic factors causing flowing bottomhole temperature to differ from the static formation temperature at that depth. When a gas well is shut in, JT cooling effect is vanished and this causes a sharp increase in sandface temperature. As effect of wellbore storage ends, wellbore temperature gradually cools down due to heat conduction with near wellbore region.     Interpretation of temperature logs has been done successfully in wells to identify water or gas entries location, detect casing leaks, and evaluate cement placement.     Abstract
    Inserting the distal locking screws is a challenging step of the intramedullary nailing procedures due to the nail deformation that makes the proximally mounted targeting systems ineffective. A pre-planning methodology is proposed, based on an analytical model of the nail–bone construct, to predict the nail deformation during surgery using orthogonal preoperative radiographs. Each of the femoral shaft and the nail was modeled as a curved tubular Euler–Bernoulli beam.     In the selective laser sintering (SLS) method, layers of powder are scanned by a laser beam and sintered. The thermal gradients created by laser heating and the subsequent cooling of the sintered sections results in thermal stresses and part warping in the final part. Thermal gradients are dependent on the scanning algorithm, in particular, the scan vector length.     In this paper, a multi-product economic production quantity problem with limited warehouse-space is considered in which the orders are delivered discretely in the form of multiple pallets and the shortages are completely backlogged. We show that the model of the problem is a constrained non-linear integer program and propose a genetic algorithm to solve it. Moreover, design of experiments is employed to calibrate the parameters of the algorithm for different problem sizes.     The mixed convection of a three-dimensional square duct with various arrangements of fins in both laminar and turbulent flow is numerically characterized and studied. This study focuses on the ability of fin arrangements to enhance a heat transfer while flow is incompressible and the fluid is air. In our models, the lower duct wall is defined with a constant heat flux condition while the two side walls and upper wall are insulated.     Purification of extracellular α-amylase from Bacillus subtilis was carried out via fractional precipitation by acetone and ion exchange chromatography. These steps provide fast precipitation as well as purification of α-amylase to improve enzyme purity, activity and stability. Compared with two-phase methods in which the yield was less than 1, this method resulted in a yield of more than 3. Moreover, 95% of acetone was recovered that enhanced the economy of the downstream process.
