Compressed Video Sensing Using Deep Learning

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Ansarian Nezhad, Valiyeh (Author) ; Marvasti, Farokh (Supervisor) ; Azghani, Masoumeh (Co-Supervisor)
    Abstract
Due to the ever-growing applications of video signals in day-to-day life and the large amount of information they contain, the compressing and processing of these signals is vital. In this thesis, a deep neural network called MC-ResNet is proposed which provides an approximation of non-reference frames based on reference ones. Next, three scenarios for compressed video sensing are presented. In all three scenarios, the reference frames are sampled and transmitted independently and reconstructed in the receiver by BCS-SPL method. In the first scenario, the difference between the non-reference frame and the approximation obtained from the MC-ResNet network is sampled and transmitted. In the...

Cooperative Transmission and Detection Strategies in Molecular Communication

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Khaloopour, Ladan (Author) ; Mirmohseni, Mahtab (Supervisor) ; Nasiri Kenari, Masoumeh (Co-Supervisor)
    Abstract
Molecular communication (MC) is a new paradigm, in which the molecules or ions are used as information carriers. MC has been proposed as a promising approach for abnormality detection and localization in a variety of micro-scale and macro-scale applications in biotechnology, medicine, and industry; such as air pollutant monitoring, agriculture, abnormality detection in pipelines, and drug delivery. The goal in some of these works is to detect the tumors, viruses, and infectious micro-organisms in the body or leakage and pressure drop in pipelines. If these abnormalities are detected, the next step would be localizing them to finding a solution or treatment, e.g., drug delivery, or targeted...

A Supervisory Fuzzy Force Control of CNC HEXAGLIDE Robot

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Abedi, Mohsen (Author) ; Alasti, Aria (Supervisor) ; Vossoughi, Gholamreza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this paper, controlling the cutting force of an end-milling process using a supervisory fuzzy controller has been investigated. The proposed control consists of an ordinary fuzzy controller and a fuzzy supervisor. In a machining process, there are several parameters which do not contribute to the force control system directly. Therefore an ordinary fuzzy force controller is suitable when these parameter have only small amount of variations. Since in practice this assumption is not valid, then a supervisory fuzzy controller has been added to the system. The designed fuzzy supervisor, inspects the dynamic behavior of the cutting force, estimates a pre-defined ‘sensitivity’ parameter and...

    Abstract
In this paper a nonlinear dynamic model for drill string in inclined well drilling is developed. Effects of drilling mud flow rate, weight on bit, angular velocity along with viscous damping on stability and vibration of the drill string are studied. Findings indicate the nonlinear effects are significant on the results. The effects of drilling mud flow rate and weight on bit on the natural frequencies and time responses are evaluated. Enhancement of drilling mud flow rate results in decreasing of natural frequencies and vibrational amplitude, while increasing the weight on bit, leads to decrease of the natural frequencies and increase the vibrational amplitude. © JVE INTERNATIONAL LTD

    Abstract
This paper investigates a predictive control strategy for a single-phase PFC rectifier exploiting the Sheppard-Taylor converter. By using this converter, the detuning problem occurring in conventional PFC rectifiers, especially at low input voltages, is avoided. This paper addresses a predictive method for designing the current controller of the Sheppard-Taylor PFC converter. The control law is derived for an ideal circuit as well as a more accurate model of the converter including parasitic elements. Input voltage feed-forward compensation provides sinusoidal input current and a desired output voltage even if the input voltage is distorted. To investigate the dynamic performance of the PFC...

Possibility of primordial black holes as the source of gravitational wave events in the advanced LIGO detector

    , Article Physical Review D ; Volume 103, Issue 8 , 2021 ; 24700010 (ISSN) Khalouei, E ; Ghodsi, H ; Rahvar, S ; Abedi, J ; Sharif University of Technology
    American Physical Society  2021
    Abstract
The analysis of gravitational wave (GW) data from advanced LIGO provides the mass of each companion of binary black holes as the source of GWs. The mass of events corresponding to the binary black holes from GW is above 20 M Δ which is much larger than the mass of astrophysical black holes detected by x-ray observations. In this work, we examine primordial black holes (PBHs) as the source of LIGO events. Assuming that 100% of the dark matter is made of PBHs, we estimate the rate at which these objects make binaries, merge, and produce GWs as a function of the redshift. The gravitational lensing of GWs by PBHs can also enhance the amplitude of the strain. We simulate GWs sourced by binary...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Haghifam, Mahdi (Author) ; Nasiri Kenari, Masoumeh (Supervisor) ; Ashtiani, Farid (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Relay-assisted communication is one of the promising techniques that have been proposed for wireless networks. The main idea of a relay network is to improve data transmission efficiency by using intermediate relay nodes which support data transmission from a source to a destination. From another perspective, energy consumption has recently become an important consideration for design of wireless communication networks. The shrinking size and increasing density of next-generation wireless devices imply reduced battery capacities, indicating that designing energy efficient networks is of paramount importance. In this regard, recent emphasis on green communications has generated great...
