Given the progress of technology, the measurement of vital body signals has been made possible with non-invasive methods. In this thesis, an attempt has been made to provide a wearable and portable solution for the measurement, monitoring, and collection of vital signals based on the Internet of Things...

Prioritization of a Building Portfolio for Seismic Retrofit Based on Risk Considering Structural Irregularities

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Asadi, Mohammad (Author) ; Mahsouli, Mojtaba (Supervisor)
    Abstract
This study proposes a probabilistic approach to prioritize a collection of buildings in a region for seismic retrofit based on regional risk analysis. Risk in this context is the exceedance probability of total economic and social losses, which include both direct and indirect consequences resulting from building damage. The prioritization criterion is determined by the benefit-to-cost ratio of retrofit, where the benefit is measured by the reduction of seismic risk achieved through retrofitting. Hence, the buildings are analyzed both in their current state and after retrofit to compute the risk measure, i.e., the mean total loss. Buildings that yield the highest reduction of the risk...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Akbar, Fatemeh (Author) ; Atarodi, Mojtaba (Supervisor)
    Abstract
This project introduces a topology enabling a Low-Noise Amplifier (LNA) not only to attenuate the unwanted signals at the input stage but also to satisfy the input matching requirement in an ultra wide frequency band. Moreover, a single ended to differential signal conversion method is proposed. This method employs a noise reduction idea, so it has a lower noise figure compared to the other introduced methods with the same purpose. The introduced methods have been utilized in designing two 0.18μm reconfigurable CMOS LNAs. One of the designed LNAs covers 2.3-3.6 GHz band width and the other one covers the UHF (470-860MHz) band. Stringent sensitivity requirement, presence of strong in-band...

Development of Procedures, Forms and Tools for Post-Earthquake Reconnaissance

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Mehdipour, Reza (Author) ; Mahsuli, Mojtaba (Supervisor)
    Abstract
This study aims to design and develop procedures, forms, and tools for post-earthquake reconnaissance. The current procedure for data collection is based on the sending of groups to identify the dimensions of the evidence and its consequences by the executive and responsible institutions. Studying and reviewing the reports that have been produced by this method shows that there is not any systematic mechanism for collecting data on a wide scale and from all aspects of the evidence. The limited data collected by the executive and responsible institutions are scattered in the reports and are less documented in the database. Therefore, it is necessary to collect big data on the severity and...
