, Book ; Chatterjee, Amitava ; Nobahari, Hadi ; Siarry, Patrick
    Springer  2013
    Abstract
There have been significant developments in the design and application of algorithms for both one-dimensional signal processing and multidimensional signal processing, namely image and video processing, with the recent focus changing from a step-by-step procedure of designing the algorithm first and following up with in-depth analysis and performance improvement to instead applying heuristic-based methods to solve signal-processing problems. In this book the contributing authors demonstrate both general-purpose algorithms and those aimed at solving specialized application problems, with a special emphasis on heuristic iterative optimization methods employing modern evolutionary and swarm...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Heidari Darani, Mohammad Mehdi (Author) ; Nobahari, Hadi (Supervisor) ; Ghanbarpour Asl, Habib (Supervisor)
    Abstract
One of the most dangerous phases of the flight is landing. Newly automatic landing is noticed. The vital element in an automatic landing system is navigation system. In this document, a PL/INS/DGPS auto landing system is introduced. In a PL based navigation system, accuracy is highly under the influence of relative geometry between PLs position and flight path. Therefore, it is necessary to locate PLs on the best position. An optimization is used to find PLs best configuration that increases the navigation performance. Tightly coupling of INS and GPS/PL is preferred, because some problems lead to GPS satellite signal unavailability

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Ghasemi, Mahsa (Author) ; Nobahari, Hadi (Supervisor) ; Pourtakdoust, Hossein (Supervisor) ; Mohammad Karimi, Hamed (Co-Supervisor)
    Abstract
The purpose of this thesis is sliding mode control of a roll-pitch seeker by considering the zenith pass problem. This problem takes place when the target appears in front of the seeker’s head. First, the mathematical model of the roll and pitch frames is obtained by the Newton-Euler equations of motion. Then, a MIMO sliding mode controller is designed. The performance of the controller is investigated in the presence of model uncertainties and seeker disturbances. The results indicate that the designed controller is robust enough and provides a suitable performance in the stabilization, tracking and guidance loops.

    Abstract
Solute-solvent and solvent-solvent interactions were investigated for binary mixtures of an ionic liquid (IL) 2-hydroxy ethylammonium formate as with methanol, ethylene glycol and glycerol. The physicochemical properties of the solvent mixtures at 25 °C, over the whole range of mole fractions, were determined using solvatochromic probes. High normal polarity ( ENT ) in the alcohol-rich region confirms solute-solvent interactions in this medium. Dipolarity/polarizability (π ∗) show a different trend to ENT with a positive deviation from ideal behavior in IL-glycerol mixtures. However, these deviations for other solvent mixtures are insignificant. Contrary to what is observed for ENT and π ∗,...

    Abstract
Classification is the most important part of brain-computer interface (BCI) systems. Because the neural activities of different individuals are not identical, using the ordinary methods of subject-dependent classification, does not lead to high accuracy in betweensubject classification problems. As a result, in this study, we propose a novel method for classification that performs well in between-subject classification. In the proposed method, at first, the subject-dependent classifiers obtained from the train subjects are applied to the test trials to obtain a set of scores and labels for the trials. Using these scores and the real labels of the labeled test trials, linear regression is...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Kohantorabi, Mona (Author) ; Gholami, Mohammad (Supervisor) ; Rahman Setayesh, Shahrbano (Supervisor) ; Salari, Hadi (Co-Advisor)
    Abstract
Solvent-solvent and solute-solvent interactions were investigated in mixtures of Triton X-100 with water, methanol, ethanol, 1-propanol, tetrahydrofuran and butyl acetate. Solvatochromic parameters, including normalized polarity (E_T^N), dipolarity-polarizability (), hydrogen-bond donar (), and hydrogen-bond acceptor () abilities, were determined in these mixtures. We observed similar behavior for E_T^N and  in TX-100/alcohols mixtures. Parameters confirmed the preferential solvation in mixtures of surfactant and solvents.
Experimental data were handled in preferential solvation model. Six binary systems exhibit a complex behavior for all three indicators. It was shown that...

The microscopic features of binary solvent systems formed by molecular solvents (methanol, ethanol, 2-methylpropan-2-ol, water, pyridine, acetonitrile, 1-propanol, 2-propanol, dimethylformamide) and the ionic liquid ([bmim]BF4) as cosolvent were used to select mixed solvents with particular characteristics. Molecular-microscopic solvent parameters corresponding to these binary mixtures were utilised to study the kinetics of the nucleophilic substitution reaction between 2-chloro-3,5-dinitropyridine and aniline to investigate and compare the effects of the solvents on a model chemical reaction. For these mixtures, the solvation behaviour is dominated by both the dipolarity/ polarisability and...

    Abstract
Predicting future behavior of chaotic time series and systems is a challenging area in the literature of nonlinear systems. The prediction accuracy of chaotic time series is extremely dependent on the model and the learning algorithm. In addition, the generalization property of the proposed models trained by limited observations is of great importance. In the past two decades, singular or descriptor systems and related fuzzy descriptor models have been the subjects of interest due to their many practical applications in modeling complex phenomena. In this study fuzzy descriptor models, as a more recent neurofuzzy realization of locally linear descriptor systems, which have led to the...

    Abstract
Rate constants, k A, for the aromatic nucleophilic substitution reaction of 2-chloro-3,5-dinitropyridine with aniline were determined in different compositions of 2-propanol mixed with hexane, benzene, and 2-methylpropan-2-ol and 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium ethylsulfate ([Emim][EtSO4]) with dimethyl sulfoxide at 25°C. The obtained rate constants of the reaction in pure solvents are in the following order: 2-methylpropan-2-ol > dimethyl sulfoxide > 2-propanol > hexane > benzene > [Emim][EtSO4]. Molecularmicroscopic solvent parameters corresponding to the selected binary mixtures were utilized to study the kinetics of a nucleophilic substitution reaction in order to investigate and compare the...

    Abstract
Photocatalytic reduction of p-nitrochlorobenzene was studied over aluminosilicate-based AgBr and AgBr-TiO2 photocatalysts which were prepared and characterized. The photoreaction was performed in the presence of LiBH4, which is a strong reducing agent, in the solution medium. A new mechanism is proposed for reduction of p-nitrochlorobenzene under photocatalytic conditions. The effect of pH, illumination source, LiBH4 concentration, temperature, catalyst dosage, and alcoholic scavengers was also studied. The results showed that the best efficiency was obtained over Ag/AgBr/TiO2/aluminosilicates at natural pH under UV light. We observed that the reaction yield was affected by changing the...
