    Abstract
Semiconducting lead sulfide film was deposited on Stainless Steel (SS) electrode by cyclic voltammetry (CV) at room temperature. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and cyclic voltammetry were used to investigate the electrochemical properties of PbS film in Na2SO4 solution. The voltammetric results showed that oxidative dissolution of PbS film occurred at about 0.21 V vs. Ag/AgCl and total film detachment from the surface occurs with increasing potential. It is concluded that the electrode surface was not passivated by sulfur produced from oxidative dissolution of PbS film. Also, cathodic reduction of the film continued to beyond the hydrogen evolution at -1.35 V vs. Ag/AgCl....

    Abstract
Abstract The role of the work function and Fermi level is significant in the performance of the photo-electrochemical cells. We report that a correlation exists between work function and thickness of deposited thin film metals (e.g., Zn, Pb, Co, and Cu). The potential difference between a metal and a reference electrode is used as a rough approach for investigation of work function or the Fermi level. Metal thickness was calculated using faradic current during electrodeposition and further investigated by X-ray diffraction technique. The results show that when thickness decreases the potential also decreases (becomes positive) and the Fermi level of metals electrodeposited on the indium tin...

    Abstract
Electrochemical deposition of aluminum and manganese from basic and acidic molten AlCl3-NaCl-KCl mixture on an aluminum electrode at 180 °C was studied by the methods of voltammetry, and potential and current transient. The deposition of aluminum was found to proceed via a nucleation/growth mechanism in basic melt, while the deposition of manganese was found to be diffusion controlled in basic melt. The diffusion coefficient of Mn2+ ions in basic melt, as derived by voltammetry was in agreement with the deductions of transient methods. Analysis of the chronoamperograms indicates that the deposition of manganese on Al was controlled by 3D diffusion controlled nucleation and growth. The...

    Abstract
The mechanism and kinetics of the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) on tin electrode in 0.1 M H2SO4 solution were studied using the methods of steady-state polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The simulation of the data obtained from these two methods, using nonlinear fitting procedure allowed us to determine the rate constants of Volmer, Heyrovsky and Tafel steps associated with the mentioned reaction. The kinetic results indicate that HER mechanism at low negative potentials is a serial combination of Volmer step and parallel Tafel and Heyrovsky steps. At high negative potentials where the hydrogen coverage reaches its limiting value, a Tafel line with the slope of -...

    Abstract
Nickel hydroxide modified nickel electrodes prepared by cycling the potential of a nickel electrode in alkaline solution exhibited electrocatalytic activity for the oxidation of methane in alkaline media. In the presence of methane the oxidation peak current of nickel hydroxide increases while that of the reverse process decreases. This is attributed to the mediation of nickel species, probably β-NiOOH phase, in the process of electrocatalysis. The mechanism of methane oxidation has also been discussed in terms of the formations of intermediates normally encountered in small organics electro-oxidation. It has also been suggested that in the further oxidation of the intermediates, ions in the...

    Abstract
The electrical conductivity of the solution has been one of the important physical quantities in many application. In this respect many probes and devices such as conductive sensors have been devised. In this study electrical properties of different water samples at frequency step range of 100-100000 Hz are measured by using the long cylindrical capacitive sensor and a measuring module (LCR-703). Operation of the capacitance measurement module for such probes is based on the auto balancing bridge method. Comparison of the measured capacitances and measured resistances for different water samples shows a decrease by increasing the measurement frequency. In another study the dielectric...

    Abstract
Complexes of Ni II-(N,N′-bis(2-hydroxy, 3-methoxy benzaldehyde)-1,2-propandiimine) can be electro-polymerized onto GC electrode in an alkaline solution to give an electro-active film strongly adhered on the electrode surface. In alkaline solution, this poly-(Ni II{sal-1,2-pn(3-OMe) 2})/GC film shows the typical voltammetric response of a surface-immobilized redox couple, as can be anticipated for the Ni 2+/Ni 3+ transitions into the film. In addition, the film exhibits a potent and persistent electro-catalytic activity towards the oxidation of 1- and 2-propanol. In CV studies, in the presence of these alcohols, poly-(Ni II{sal-1,2-pn(3-OMe) 2})/GC electrode shows a new oxidation peak for the...

    Abstract
A stable copper (hydr)oxide-modified electrode was prepared in 0.5 mol/L NaOH solution by cyclic voltammetry in the range of -250 to 1000 mV. It can be used for electrochemical studies in the range of -250 to 1000 mV without interfering peaks because there is no oxidation of copper. During an anodic potential sweep, the electro-oxidation of saccharose on Cu occurred by the formation of CuIII and this reaction also occurred in the early stages of the reversed cycle until it is stopped by the negative potentials. A mechanism based on the electro-chemical generation of CuIII active sites and their subsequent consumption by saccharose was proposed, and the rate law and kinetic parameters were...
