    Abstract
    In this paper, an analytical model is presented for forced convective film condensation inside smooth vertical tubes, in which Prandtl mixing length theory, Van Driest hypothesis and Reynolds analogy are used. Comparison of this model with the available experimental data and three other correlations reported in the literature demonstrates that the results are in satisfactory and close agreement

    This paper introduces a stochastic scheduling problem. In this problem a directed acyclic graphs (DAG) represents the precedence relations among m tasks that n workers are scheduled to execute. The question is to find a schedule Σ such that if tasks are assigned to workers according to Σ, the expected time needed to execute all the tasks is minimized.     Abstract
    Computing the visibility polygon, VP, of a point in a polygonal scene, is a classical problem that has been studied extensively. In this paper, we consider the problem of computing VP for any query point efficiently, with some additional preprocessing phase. The scene consists of a set of obstacles, of total complexity O(n). We show for a query point q, VP(q) can be computed in logarithmic time using O(n 4) space and O(n 4 logn) preprocessing time. Furthermore to decrease space usage and preprocessing time, we make a tradeoff between space usage and query time; so by spending O(m) space, we can achieve O(n 2 log √ m/n)/√ m)query time, where n 2≤m≤n 4.     Electrical and Thermal Properties of Thin Films of Perovskites

    Abstract
    In this thesis, we consider a simple layered structure grown along [001] direction. Based on the previous works we show that the energy spectrum contains linear Dirac spectrum of type II tilted in some direction. We also investigate the anomalous transport phenomena in the bilayer structures grown along [111] direction of a class of perovskites. The crystal field splits the d orbitals into two classes dubbed as eg and t2g described by different Hamiltonians within each manifold. An applied magnetic field breaks the time reversal symmetry and we show that the tight-binding bands acquire non-zero Chern numbers underlying the existence of non-trivial band topology in these structures.     In this research, formation of aluminide/silicide diffusion coatings on γ -TiAl[Ti-48Al-2Nb-2Cr (at.%)] alloy using gasphase diffusion pack cementation process has been investigated. The application of powder mixtures with various chemical compositions in the pack cementation process performed at 1000°C for 6 hours in order to achieve simultaneous diffusion of Al and Si, showed that the composition of the powder mixture could have a significant effect on the structure and thickness of the aluminide/silicide coatings.     The fractal study of thin layer films has been concerned by numerous studies, but it is a novel idea to use this method for interpretation of layer formation during electrocrystallization, simultaneously. In present study, Scharifker's equations were derived for instantaneous and progressive nucleation and 3D growth of hemispherical centers under diffusion-controlled condition to calculate in situ change of fractal dimension of surface.     This paper has developed an axisymmetric laminar and turbulent two-phase flow solver to simulate pressure-swirl atomizers. Equations include the explicit algebraic Reynolds stress model, the Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes, and the level set equation. Applying a high-order compact upwind finite difference scheme with the level set equation being culminated to capture the interface between air-liquid two-phase flow and decreasing the mass conservation error in the level set equation.     This work simulates the turbulent boundary layer of an incompressible viscous swirling flow through a conical chamber. To model the pressure gradient normal to the wall, the radial and tangential velocity components across the boundary layer have been calculated by both the integral and numerical methods. The numerical solution is accomplished by finite difference, based on the finite volume method. The results show that the radial and tangential boundary layer thicknesses depend on the velocity ratios, Reynolds number and nozzle angle.     In this paper, we consider the problem of computing the visibility polygon (VP) of a query point q (or VP(q)) in a scene consisting of some obstacles with total complexity of n. We show that the combinatorial representation of VP(q) can be computed in logarithmic time by preprocessing the scene in O( n4logn) time and using O( n4) space. We can also report the actual VP(q) in additional O(|VP(q)|) time. As a main result of this paper, we will prove that we can have a tradeoff between the query time and the preprocessing time/space.
