Study of Hole Pressure Effect on the Oil Recovery from Dead Ends in Polymer Flooding in Petroleum Reservoirs

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Zirrahi, Mohsen (Author) ; Ramezani Saadat Aabadi, Ahmad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Most of residual oil is difficult to displace and recover during water flooding process. One of the most important chemical flooding processes is polymer flooding that can improve microscopic and macroscopic sweep efficiency. Since, a large percent of reservoirs rocks is consisted of the dead ends in which oil remains immobile during water flooding, study of sweep efficiency from dead ends is important to improve oil recovery efficiency. In this study, effects of polymer flooding on oil recovery from dead end in glass micromodel have been studied experimentally and obtained results are compared with those of simulation of polymeric fluids in this micromodel. A correlation has been presented...

Design and Operation of Proper Freeze Drying Process to Recover Active Biological Agent

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Saadat, Mohammad Mahdi (Author) ; Rosta Azad, Reza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
One of the most important unit operations in the production of dry powder biological products involves a freeze dryer apparatus. In this process, Liqueur, which is containing the α-amylase enzyme, undergoes a frigidity condition in which loses its moisture during sublimation. Under these circumstances, applying an adequate supply of sublimation enthalpy without raising the temperature of the frigid material up to melting, plays an important role in the quality of the product and preventing degradation of the α-amylase enzyme. Freeze drying depends on two main factors; time and energy. Furthermore, it is necessary to obtain an optimal temperature and pressure for different steps and...

Multiscale Modeling of Cohesive Crack and Bulk for Softening Materials

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Saadat, Mohammad Ali (Author) ; Khoei, Amir Reza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Multiscale modeling is performed within the framework of homogenization methods for problems in which the scales are separated. The existence of representative volume element (RVE) is one of the main ingredients of homogenization methods. Due to non-existence of RVE and macroscale mesh sensitivity, the continuous homogenization method is not applicable for softening materials. Despite the non-existence of RVE for softening materials, it has been demonstrated that by performing the average over the active damage zone rather than the entire domain, objective responses with respect to RVE size could be obtained. That is why discontinuous homogenization is used instead of continuous...

    Abstract
Smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) was applied to simulate the free falling of cylindrical bodies in three types of fluids including Newtonian, generalized-Newtonian and viscoelastic fluids. Renormalized derivation schemes were used because of their consistency in combination with the latest version of no slip boundary condition to improve the handling of moving fluid-structure interactions (FSIs). Verification of the method was performed through comparing the results of some benchmark examples for both single and two phase flows with the literature. The effects of some parameters such as the viscosity of the Newtonian fluid, the n index of the power-law fluid and the relaxation time of...

Experimental Analysis of Tiba Gearbox and Provide a Solution to Reduce NVH

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Falahati Marvast, Amin (Author) ; Saadat Foumani, Mahmud (Supervisor)
    Abstract
For over a hundred years, vehicles have entered the human environment and influenced it. One of the most important effects that vehicles have on their surroundings and humans is their acoustic noise. The gearbox is one of the important components of the vehicle's transmission chain, in which the gears interact with each other and cause to create noise and vibration. These vibrations are transmitted through the bearings to the gearbox casing and then transferred to other parts of the vehicle via gearbox supports. Many researchers have studied the factors of NVH production in gearboxes and used methods such as gear profile modification and optimization of shaft and casing to reduce NVH. This...

In this paper, different poly(L-Lactide)-block-poly(ε-caprolactone) (PLLA-b-PCL) copolymers were in situ synthesized in the presence of modified titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles (mTNP) as the initiator and stannous octoate as the catalyst. The surface of TiO2 was modified by grafting aminopropyl trimethoxy silane to improve initiator efficiency. Copolymers with 90/10, 70/30, and 50/50 mass ratio of L-lactide/ ε-caprolactone and 5 wt% of mTNP (proportional to ε-caprolactone) were...
