    Abstract
    In this paper, a new extended quasi-switched Z-source inverter, using a switched-inductor cell, is proposed. The most important advantage of the proposed inverter is achieving the maximum voltage gain in the lower duty cycle with less circuit components than similar previous inverters, which causes the modulation index value increase. Furthermore, it leads to less power losses and less voltage and current ripples. The employed control method in this inverter is the pulse width modulation (PWM) simple boost control method.     In this study, injectable PEG-based hydrogels containing Laponite particles with mechanical and structural properties close to the natural articular cartilage are introduced. The nanocomposites are fabricated by imide ring opening reactions utilizing synthesized copolymers containing PEG blocks and nanoclay through a two-step thermal poly-(amic acid) process.     This study investigated the effect of intercritical heat treatment temperature on the tensile properties, work hardening and corrosion resistance of dual phase steel. Ferrite-martensite dual phase steel with different martensite volume fractions were obtained after heat treatment at different intercritical temperatures. Microstructure, mechanical properties of steel were measured and the corrosion resistance was evaluated via polarization test.     High-pressure die casting (HPDC) is one of the most important manufacturing processes. Air porosity in HPDC parts has many serious effects upon the casting quality. A 3D single-phase code based on the SOLA-VOF algorithm is used for the continuous phase advection during mold filling. In this research, a computational model based on concentration transport equation is used for calculation of air porosity distribution and a mixed VOF-Lagrange algorithm is developed in order to model splashing in HPDC. Graphene oxide (GO) nanosheets and graphene oxide nanoribbon (GONR) possessing oxygenated functional groups, as well as high dielectric constants, have been proposed as appropriate candidates for this purpose.     Abstract
    Transits in the planetary system WASP-4 were recently found to occur 80 s earlier than expected in observations from the TESS satellite. We present 22 new times of mid-transit that confirm the existence of transit timing variations, and are well fitted by a quadratic ephemeris with period decay dP/dt = −9.2 ± 1.1 ms yr−1. We rule out instrumental issues, stellar activity, and the Applegate mechanism as possible causes. The light-time effect is also not favoured due to the non-detection of changes in the systemic velocity. Orbital decay and apsidal precession are plausible but unproven. New prediction equations were developed for the global radiation using an integrated search method of genetic programming (GP) and simulated annealing (SA), called GP/SA.     In this experimental study, AA7075 aluminum alloy was subjected to pure severe shot peening (SSP), pure ultrasonic nanocrystalline surface modification (UNSM) and the combination of these two treatments. The treated specimens were analyzed with detailed microstructure analysis, micro-hardness, surface roughness, XRD investigations and wear-friction tests. The results demonstrated that UNSM exhibited fine surface finish and provided minimum surface roughness with the Ra value of 0.8 µm.     The flying agility demonstrated by dragonflies is accomplished by means of complex aerodynamic forces produced by flapping their four wings arranged in a tandem configuration. The current study presents a novel tandem flapping wing mechanism for a biomimetic air vehicle that was designed and manufactured to experimentally investigate the aerodynamic forces. By optimizing the configuration and using spatial network analysis, it is shown that the designed structure can flap the wings in a linear up–down stroke motion and is capable of maintaining good consistency and aerodynamic performance.     Lysozyme loaded niosomes containing various molar ratios of two kinds of surfactants were prepared and the properties of these niosomal formulations were studied. The results revealed that the size of niosomes varied between 240.06 ± 32.41 and 895.2 ± 20.84 nm. Formulations with the lowest size and no precipitation had entrapment efficiencies ranging from 60.644 ± 3.310 to 66.333 ± 1.98%. Their controlled release profiles after 48 h were 15.67, 20.67 and 31.50%.     Abstract
    We present broad-band photometry of 11 planetary transits of the hot Jupiter WASP-74 b, using three medium-class telescopes and employing the telescope-defocusing technique. Most of the transits were monitored through I filters and one was simultaneously observed in five optical (U, g', r', i', z') and three near-infrared (J, H, K) passbands, for a total of 18 light curves. We also obtained new high-resolution spectra of the host star. We used these new data to review the orbital and physical properties of the WASP-74 planetary system.     Abstract
    We report the first unambiguous detection and mass measurement of an isolated stellar-mass black hole (BH). We used the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) to carry out precise astrometry of the source star of the long-duration (t E ≃ 270 days), high-magnification microlensing event MOA-2011-BLG-191/OGLE-2011-BLG-0462 (hereafter designated as MOA-11-191/OGLE-11-462), in the direction of the Galactic bulge. HST imaging, conducted at eight epochs over an interval of 6 yr, reveals a clear relativistic astrometric deflection of the background star's apparent position.
