, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Yazdizadeh Kharrazi, Fatemeh (Author) ; Miremadi, Iman (Supervisor) ; Honarvar, Rouhollah (Co-Supervisor)
    Abstract
Video-on-demand platforms are a type of disruptive innovation that has transformed the audiovisual industry by providing users with access to digital video content via the Internet. VOD platforms were introduced in Iran in the Iran, with a focus on analyzing changes in the industry's sectoral innovation system. Data was collected through unstructured interviews with 14 experts in the audiovisual industry, as well as by reviewing relevant documents, news articles, and public data. Thematic analysis was used to code the findings. The results of the research indicate that the emergence and development of VODs have had a significant impact on all aspects of the audiovisual industry's sectoral...

Design and Development of IoT-Based Sensor-Actuator Systems for Smart Buildings

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Sheklabadi Habibabadi, Ali (Author) ; Gholampour, Iman (Supervisor) ; Hajsadeghi, Khosrow (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The use of the Internet of Things in buildings has become increasingly important. Meanwhile, sensors and actuators play a very important role. With the help of sensors, various data of residents' environment and behavior can be obtained and various parameters can be controlled through actuators. Data from the presence, measurement and decision making of the components of this structure in a building can be used to model and predict the behavior of residents with methods of machine learning, data mining and artificial intelligence such as deep learning and Gaussian processes, helping to achieve the goal of residents' comfort and energy saving. In the desired structure, the sensor- actuator...

Massive Online Open Courses and Higher Education Policy in Iran

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Amini Abarghouie, Mohammd Ali (Author) ; Miremadi, Iman (Supervisor) ; Honarvar, Ruhollah (Co-Supervisor)
    Abstract
The digital age and its interlace with the pandemic has led to rapid changes in various institutions, including higher education. One of the factors that changes higher education is the expansion of E-learning and Massive Online Open Courses (MOOCs). Although about 15 years have passed since its creation, the pandemic has expanded the E-learning infrastructure and given it more attention, so that now everyone Confesses the possibility of distance education. On the other hand, although the development of MOOCs platforms and their considerable acceptance has attracted the attention of higher education professors and future researchers in this field, it is not properly considered by the...

Optimal Integration of Visual Systems in Intelligent Traffic Control Applications & Research on Effect of Optical Detectors on Imaging quality

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Aghazadeh Fard, Amir Hossein (Author) ; Gholampour, Iman (Supervisor) ; Kavehvash, Zahra (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Intelligent transportation systems (ITS), refers to systems in which various types of data receiving and processing operations of traffic and transportation, as well as management and control, are used by automated and intelligent tools and by using modern electronic and control platforms along with the relevant planning. In intelligent transportation systems, new communication, electronic and optical technologies along with computer technologies, mechanical equipment, etc. are used for data retrieval and data mining that the required data is usually received and collected automatically and instantaneous, integrated and simultaneous access to the data set of the transportation network makes...

Agency and Large-Scale Institutional Changes; The Study of the Creation of the Biopharmaceutical Industry in Iran

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Babaei، Ali (Author) ; Mashayekhi, Ali Naghi (Supervisor) ; Miremadi, Iman (Supervisor) ; Maleki, Ali (Co-Supervisor)
    Abstract
Neither state planning nor economic liberalization has been the answer for developing countries to escape from the middle-income trap, mainly due to presence of institutional voids and due to the governance of hindering institutions. Therefore, we need another explanation for how of the development, which must include how institutions change and how new institutions and new institutional fields emerge. Developing countries are full of institutional voids and the governance of hindering institutions. Therefore, the process of economic development in these countries, is beyond the power of market and state, and needs agency. Responding to the recent call by the literature for doing more...

Application of Multiscale methods for Modeling Spatial Heterogeneity in Complex Reservoirs

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Hajizadeh Mobaraki, Alireza (Author) ; Farhadpour, Farhad A (Supervisor) ; Sayf Kordi, Ali Akbar (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Underground reservoirs are highly complicated due to the presence of spatial heterogeneities at length scales that span from micrometer in pore structure of the rocks to kilometer in the reservoir models. While large-scale flow units need to be characterized using seismic and well data, detailed displacements of fluids in pore space need to be modeled using thin section analysis and pore network modeling. It is therefore necessary to adopt a multi-scale approach to reservoir description to make best use of all the available data that vary over several orders of magnitude, from micro-scale in pore structure to field scale in reservoir flow models. In this thesis, an integrated framework for...

Photochemical oxidation of Reactive blue 19 dye (RB19) in textile wastewater by UV/K2S2O8 process

    , Article Iranian Journal of Environmental Health Science and Engineering ; Volume 5, Issue 2 , 2008 , Pages 95-100 ; 17351979 (ISSN) Rezaee, A ; Ghaneian, M. T ; Khavanin, A ; Hashemian, S. J ; Moussavi, G. H ; Ghanizadeh, G. H ; Hajizadeh, E ; Sharif University of Technology
    2008
    Abstract
In textile industry, advanced oxidation processes are used for degrading and removing color from dye baths which allow wastewater reuse. In this study, photochemical oxidation processes (UV-A/K2S2O8, UV-C/ K2S2O8) and chemical oxidation process (dark/K2S2O8), were investigated in a laboratory scale photoreactor for decolorization of the Reactive blue 19 (RB19) dye from synthetic textile wastewater. The effects of operating parameters such as potassium persulphate dosage, pH, reaction time and UV source, on decolorization have been evaluated. The results of direct chemical oxidation showed that 50% of the dye was been removed using K2S2O8 in dark condition after 5h reaction time and...

    Model-based Robust Video Watermarking

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Bakhshi Golestani, Hossein (Author) ; Ghaemmaghami, Shahrokh (Supervisor) ; Gholampour, Iman (Co-Advisor) ; Ghanbari, Mohammad (Co-Advisor)
    Abstract
Nowadays, H.264 is a popular format to data transfer. The growing use of video signals and importance of its ownership in the digital world, requires careful study of robust video watermarking. Distorting the watermark through recompression is a common attack to robust video watermarking schemes. It is aimed in this thesis to design a recompression resistant watermarking scheme and to address real-time extraction of the watermark from both compressed video bitstream and decoded video. In this thesis, we employ an objective quality metric, which is highly correlated with human perception, as a cost function in image/video watermarking optimization. We show that by embedding in the selected...

    Abstract
Normal human breathing exhibits complex variability in both respiratory rhythm and volume. Analyzing such nonlinear fluctuations may provide clinically relevant information in patients with complex illnesses such as asthma. We compared the cycle-by-cycle fluctuations of inter-breath interval (IBI) and lung volume (LV) among healthy volunteers and patients with various types of asthma. Continuous respiratory datasets were collected from forty agematched men including 10 healthy volunteers, 10 patients with controlled atopic asthma, 10 patients with uncontrolled atopic asthma, and 10 patients with uncontrolled non-atopic asthma during 60 min spontaneous breathing. Complexity of breathing...
