    Abstract
Concentration gradient generators (CGGs) help biologists to perform large scale, fast and high-throughput experiments. This paper introduces a design tool called Tree-like Concentration gradient generator Design Tool (TCDT). The performance of this tool is validated both numerically and experimentally. Three CGGs were fabricated using three different fabrication methods and design parameters. The performance of these devices was examined using the measurement of fluorescent and dye intensity. The performance of the design tool for non-linear and multi-drug concentration gradient generations was investigated as well. In addition, a method was developed to investigate the multi-drug...

    Abstract
Functional relationship between supplier and buyer in an open market place leads to investigate the role of both quantifiable and non-quantifiable parameters in coordination mechanism with the aim of achieving higher performance in supply chain activities. Here, we develop a supply chain model and a new agent to analyze and simulate the players' behavior in the network. A cooperative game theory framework is utilized between buyer and supplier in order to increase the supply chain performance. The study is supported by presenting SC Net Optimizer as a tool for implementing the proposed coordination mechanism and evaluates the performance of the chain by simulation using stochastic Petri nets...

    Abstract
The Natural Gas Liquids (NGL) recovery unit is one of the processes that requires cooling. The sweetened gas enters this unit after the dehydration stage, and the final product called NGL Product is stored and ready for consumption or export. In this research, the first, one of the NGL units, is simulated with HYSYS software. Three types of processes with different cooling systems are studied using the exergy analysis method. Joule-Thomson's combination with the expander is selected for its high exergy efficiency, and the exergy efficiency function has been selected as the objective function 1 to optimize this process mathematically based on this study's findings. The critical term in this...

    Abstract
Readily oxidization of magnetic particles is a common drawback of these type of materials which reduce their electromagnetic wave dissipation performance. In this study, the magnetic core-double shells structured (Ni/SiO2/Polyaniline) composite has been developed for protection of the core from oxidation and in consequent improvement the complex permittivity. Solvothermal and in-situ polymerization methods were utilized for decorating Ni micro-particles with SiO2 and conductive polyaniline polymer respectively. All physico-chemical, magnetic and electromagnetic features were evaluated via XRD, FTIR, XPS, FESEM, VSM and VNA analysis. The double shells composite possesses significant...

Embedded SI partial transmit sequence with improved bit error rate

    , Article 2nd International Conference on Electrical Engineering, ICEE, Lahore, 25 March 2008 through 26 March 2008 ; 2008 ; 9781424422937 (ISBN) Reisi, N ; Ahmadian Attari, M ; Reisi, N
    2008
    Abstract
OFDM is a multicarrier modulation scheme with high bandwidth efficiency and robustness to multipath environment used in high data rate transmission. However, a drawback of this system is the large Peak-to-Average-Power Ratio (PAR) of the transmit signal which makes its straightforward implementation quite costly. PAR in an OFDM based system can be reduced significantly by PTS method for which data recovery requires side information (SI) about the phases used at transmitter. Sending SI, not only reduces the rate, but also increases BER, for any error in SI detection can damage a large amount of transmitted information. By introducing a new phase set, we propose a PTS based method for MPSK...

This study examines the air quality on line 1 and 2 of Tehran underground metro. The total suspended particulate (TSP), PM10, PM2.5, PM1, CO2, NO, NO2, SO2, relative humidity and air temperature were measured. An integrated air quality index was also calculated for each location. The results revealed that, PMlO, PM2.5, and SO2 concentrations are higher than their environmental standard levels. The in station CO2 levels are higher while its' in train levels are lower than environmental permissible level. The air quality index showed that the in-train air quality is more acceptable than the instation air quality

Diffusive motion of C60 on a graphene sheet

    , Article Physical Review E - Statistical, Nonlinear, and Soft Matter Physics ; Volume 82, Issue 5 , November , 2010 ; 15393755 (ISSN) Neek Amal, M ; Abedpour, N ; Rasuli, S. N ; Naji, A ; Ejtehadi, M. R ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
The motion of a C60 molecule over a graphene sheet at finite temperature is investigated both theoretically and computationally. We show that a graphene sheet generates a van der Waals laterally periodic potential, which directly influences the motion of external objects in its proximity. The translational motion of a C60 molecule near a graphene sheet is found to be diffusive in the lateral directions, while in the perpendicular direction, the motion may be described as diffusion in an effective harmonic potential which is determined from the distribution function of the position of the C60 molecule. We also examine the rotational diffusion of C 60 and show that its motion over the graphene...

    Abstract
Synchronization of fractional-order hyperchaotic complex systems is an interesting phenomenon since it has several applications in applied sciences. Based on the complexity of hyperchaotic dynamical systems and unpredictability of hidden attractors, which may exist in their phase spaces and could be beneficial in secure communications, a scheme to derive the analytical formula of the control functions is stated to study active control synchronization. Further comparison of this analytical formula with numerical experiments yields an interesting agreement. A novel fractional-order complex Sprott system is proposed to study this kind of synchronization and its dynamics. A secure communication...

    Abstract
Introduction. Dental caries is the most common cause of tooth loss. However, it can be stopped by enhancing remineralization. Fluoride and casein phosphopeptide-amorphous calcium phosphate (CPP-ACP) are among the most important remineralizing agents. Recent studies have used bioactive glass as a remineralizing agent in different forms. This study aimed to assess the efficacy of a composite paste (prepared by mixing urethane polypropylene glycol oligomer with bioactive glass powder for easier application). Materials and Methods. Enamel disks were cut out of the buccal surface of extracted sound third molars. The samples were randomly divided into 3 groups of 15 and underwent Vickers...

    Abstract
We have used molecular dynamics simulation to investigate hydrophilic– hydrophobic interfaces between calcium chloride (CaCl2) aqueous solutions and normal hexane. The results demonstrate the increasing impact of salt concentration on the liquid–liquid interfacial tension, hence, negative adsorption of CaCl2 according to Gibbs adsorption isotherm. Moreover, we calculated the density profiles of hexane, water, and the counter ions. The results reveal an electrical double layer near the interface and the less affinity of calcium cations toward the interface than that of chloride anions. Orientation of water molecules at the studied concentrations may result in developing a positively charged...
