, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Mohammadghorban Rayat, Ali (Author) ; Jafari, Akbar (Supervisor)
    Abstract
8−Pmmn Borophene is a single layer 2D material made or Boron atoms. This material is a Dirac material with anisotropic tilted Dirac cones (Unlike Graphene). In study, We will exploit Group theory and representation theory to investigate the space group of this material namely Pmmn space group. Then representation theory and basis functions of the irreducible representations of space group will be used to find the allowed couplings between electronic and phononic states; hence we will derive the most general hamiltonian of Electron-Phonon coupling allowed by symmetry

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Shahbazali, Ilnaz (Author) ; Seyfkordi, Ali Akbar (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Nowadays, a fluidized bed with gas plays an important part in the industry. The design of this kind of reactor requires knowing the interfacial area between two phases and this interfacial area leads to calculate the solid holdup in the bed. Consequently achieving interfacial area between gas and solid in the bed experimentally is so significant. On interfacial area measurement in fluidized bed with gas has been worked, but light transmission technique has been used less. Therefore, in the current research the possibility of using of this technique and its accuracy are investigated. Of course, fluidizing solid in gas phase is so difficult and it encounters problems such as gas improper...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Noorbakhsh Jafary Dehkordy, Pooyan (Author) ; Shojaei, Akbar (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Polyamides have found great attraction in the wide variety of application due to their desireable and tribological properties and appropriate processability. Due to their low mechanical strength reinforcing of these types of polymers has always been one of the important academic and industrial issues. In order to improve mechanical properties of such polymers, different kinds of reinforcement particles such as titaniom diaoxide, Nano clay, glass fibers (Short or long glass fiber), etc were used. Carbon nano tubes have high thermal and electrical conduction and mechanical properties; they are widely used as a reinforcement particle for polymer matrix. In this study, carbon nano tube and...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Sarrafan, Atabak (Author) ; Khayyat, Amir Ali Akbar (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Due to the inherent non-linear nature of the MR damper, an intelligent non-linear neuro-fuzzy control strategy is designed for control of wave-induced vibration of an offshore steel jacket platform equipped with MR dampers. In the proposed control system, a dynamic-feedback neural network is employed to model non-linear dynamic system and the fuzzy logic controller is used to determine the control forces of MR dampers. Required voltages and actual forces of MR dampers are obtained by use of two feedforward neural networks, in which the first neural network and second one act as the inverse and forward dynamics model of the MR dampers, respectively. The most important characteristic of the...

    Abstract
In this work nanocomposite CNT/polysulfone and CNT/polyethersulfone membranes for membrane contactor application in gas separation were fabricated. The two types of CNTs used for chemical and physical separation of H2S from a mixture of CH4 an H2S, had the outer diameter of 20-30nm and 50-100nm. One of the greatest concerns about using membrane contactors for gas separation applications is the wetting of membranes which consequently leads to decrease in separation performance. The aim of this study is to enhance the hydrophobicity of membranes by mixing hydrophobic carbon nanotubes in the polymeric matrix. The effect of factors like type of the polymer, diameter of the carbon nanotube and...

The Effect of Exact and Approximate Distribution of Conditional Spectrum in Probabilistic Estimation of Structural Demands

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Shokouhirad, Sahar (Author) ; Golafshani, Ali Akbar (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this thesis several methodological aspects of both conventional and novel approaches to probabilistic seismic hazard assessment are discussed here along with subjects more strictly pertinent to structural and geotechnical engineering. This work, however, has a unique, ultimate goal: to provide procedures for an effective and practical probabilistic estimation of structural demand of offshore platforms due to seismic ground shaking. In modern multi-level design and rehabilitation procedures, structural performance is in fact quantified by deformation demand levels exceeded with a specified annual frequency of structural life. We refer to this as Probabilistic Seismic Demand Analysis (PSDA)....

Afterward, by adding triethylenetetramine kinetic cure of nanocomposites were investigated. For this purpose, conversion was determined using heat flow of reaction and then activation energy was calculated....

The Effect of Ferrite Grain Size on Tlp Bonding Time of Dual Phase Steels

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Sheikhi Shooshtari, Roozbeh (Author) ; Ekrami, Ali Akbar (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this study, low carbon steels were joined with TLP bonding method; using a Fe based interlayer. Transient Liquid Phase bonding is a diffusional process in which as tempreture rises a melting point depressant element difuses in to the base metal and as a result the interlayer will isothermally solidify. Due to the fact that Ferrite grain size can effect the amount of diffusion which is taking place, in this study the effect of this variable on the isothermal solidification time was investigated using steels with different initial grain sizes. Microstructural studies indicated that as the mean grain size increases the time needed for the isothermal solidification to complete increases....

Investigation of the Effect of Disorder and Two Approches of Coherent Potential Approximation and Local Distribution

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Esmail Zadeh Noghani, Fereshteh (Author) ; Jafari, Akbar (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Disorders with creating the localized states, which are the states with limited spatial distribution, cause carriers of these states become limited to small part of space and cannot participate in the transport. If energy of these states is near the Fermi energy, the Anderson metal-insulator phase transition occurs. In this thesis,we studied type of disorders and determining their Hamiltonian and by studying definition of localization from different aspects, we attained a better explanation of disorders effects on materials. With studying the localization scaling theory, we ex-amined conditions of localization in different dimensions. Then for determining the green function and therefor the...

Design and Preparation of Gas sensor for Binary Gas Mixtures on the Base of Polymeric Membranes

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Shabani, Ehsan (Author) ; Musavi, Abbas (Supervisor) ; Shojaei, Akbar (Supervisor)
    Abstract
There are different types of sensors for measuring the concentration of gases that usually have high prices because of their complicated method of production. We can produce much cheaper sensors in special conditions by using polymer membranes. Different gases can be separated by using appropriate polymer membranes and the difference between diffusion rate of these gases is the basis of the separation method and gases pass through the membrane with different flow rates in the specific entrance pressure. The flow rate of total gas which flows will be different for a binary gaseous mixture at specific temperature and pressure with different concentrations because the flow rate is relative to...
