    ECG Denoising by Deterministic Approaches

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Taghavi Razavizadeh, Marjaneh (Author) ; Shamsollahi, Mohammad Bagher (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The goal of the research presented in this thesis is removing noise from electrocardiogram (ECG) signals. The electrocardiogram is a test that measures the electrical activity of the heart. The information obtained from an electrocardiogram can be used to diagnose different types of heart disease. It may be useful for seeing how well the patient is responding to treatment. The extraction of high resolution ECG signals from noisy measurements is among the most tempting open problems of biomedical signal processing. Extracting useful clinical information from the real (noisy) ECG requires reliable signal processing techniques. Numerous methods have been reported to denoise ECG signals based on...

Sol–gel preparation and corrosion properties of Zn–SiO2 nanocomposite thin film

    , Article Journal of Sol-Gel Science and Technology ; Volume 79, Issue 1 , 2016 , Pages 133-143 ; 09280707 (ISSN) Razavizadeh, O ; Ghorbani, M ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
In this study, a novel nanocomposite thin film of Zn–SiO2 is considered. The thin film is a viable alternative for higher abrasion-resistant coatings. DLS technique revealed that the nanoparticle size is to be below 10 nm, and FE-SEM showed particle size to be below 17 nm in the obtained coating. The coating was found to be highly adhesive with an amorphous structure and hardness value above 1000HV. Corrosion resistance studies using linear polarization technique revealed that this unique nanocomposite has a lower corrosion rate than hot-dip galvanized steel at higher positive potentials. A conclusive mechanism for corrosion and erosion improvement has been proposed. Graphical Abstract:...

    Abstract
Application of corrosion resistant coatings is one of the most widely used means of protecting steel. Zinc coated (galvanize) steel, is well known for galvanic protection of steel substrates and nowadays, particular attention has been paid to the coupling of graphene oxide (GO) with metallic materials, in order to lessen corrosion rate. In this research, an isopropanol supercritical reducing environment prepared to make zinc ions bond directly with graphene oxides, to form a button shape hybrids of ZnO-Graphene (ZnOG). The hybridized bonding between zinc and graphene oxide is confirmed by Fourier Transform Infra-Red analysis. And the morphology revealed, using a Field Emission Scanning...

The Structure and Corrosion Behavior of Synthesized Zn-SiO2 Nano-composite Coating by Sol-Gel Method

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Razavizadeh, Omid (Author) ; Ghorbani, Mohammad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Zinc–silicanano-composite coatings were produced by successive dip coatand sintering procedure from different sol-gel solutions. The surface and cross-sectional morphologies of Zn-SiO2 nano-particles (NPs) were examined using field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM). Corrosion resistance evaluated by means of polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy showed that even thin films of Zn-SiO2 in orders of 200 nm can have corrosion rates as low as conventional hot dip galvanized steels. Multi-layers coatings have been studied and showed that 10 layers coating with the thickness of 2m has the lowest corrosion rate with the passive region in anodic branch. Corrosion...

    Abstract
The electrodeposition of Zn-SiO2 nanocomposites has been investigated with different electrolytes: triethanolamine as a dispersing agent, and cetyl trimethylammonium bromide and dodecyl dimethylamine oxide as ionic (cationic) and non-ionic surfactants. Appropriate electrophoretic potentials for each solution were obtained using cyclic voltammetry. The results show that the most stable SiO2 nanoparticles with zeta potential range of 25 to 41 mV, along with highest SiO2 mobility of 0.4 to 0.7 m2/V.s were dispersed by triethanolamine in ethanol and the resulting coating adhesion improved up to 5.87 MPa in the standard pull off test, with the enhanced hardness of...

Photo-Electrochemical application of ZnOG thin film for in situ monitoring of steel sour corrosion

    , Article Surface Engineering and Applied Electrochemistry ; Volume 56, Issue 2 , 2020 , Pages 242-247 Razavizadeh, O ; Ghorbani, M ; Shafiekhani, A ; Sharif University of Technology
    Pleiades Publishing  2020
    Abstract
Abstract: Further to traditional corrosion monitoring techniques for rated deteriorations, nowadays modern electrochemical monitoring methods are promising for the control of non-rated damage mechanisms. Considering carbon steel as the most commonly used alloy in the oil and gas industry, there are special grades under NACE MR0175 standard which are immune to sour corrosion. However, according to the industry reports, their immunity can be terminated by upset conditions or on site repairs. This issue will impose either a high operational risk or exorbitant maintenance and inspection costs. Hence, in this paper, a new monitoring technology framework is discussed to lessen a catastrophic...

    , Article 17th European Wireless Conference 2011, EW 2011 ; 2011 , Pages 328-332 ; (Print ISBN): 978-3-8007-3343-9 Javidbakht, O ; Alizadeh, N. N ; Razavizadeh, S. M ; Sharif University of Technology
    2011
    Abstract
In this paper, we are planning to introduce a new method for relay selection and resource allocation in OFDM-based cooperative networks. Up to now, there have been relatively few works clearly concentrating on the combination of relay selection and resource allocation in such networks. In our work, a network with a single transmitter, a single receiver and a group of relays is considered. Relays work on Amplify and Forward (AF) method and there is no direct link between the transmitter and the receiver. The optimization problem is to maximize the throughput of the receiver with constraints on the amounts of the power of the transmitter and relays, and subcarriers. We will introduce an...

    Abstract
In this research, the ZnOG hybrid thin film was produced via solgel method. The surface morphology, band gap and photoactive properties of the films were studied by means of SEM, UV–Vis and photoluminescence analysis. In addition, the ability of the thin film in photocathodic protection of carbon steel (CS) and 304 stainless steel in 3.5 wt.% NaCl and Na2S solutions under dark and UV illumination was investigated by polarization test as well as OCP and current measurements during coupling of steels with ZnOG photoanode. The mix band gap is reduced to the orders of 1.17 eV through hybridization of ZnO with graphene oxide. In both NaCl and Na2S solutions, the ZnOG thin film could effectively...

Solving the P-Center Problem under Uncertainty

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Taghavi, Majid (Author) ; Shavandi, Hassan (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Facility location decisions play a prominent role in strategic planning of many firms, companies and governmental organizations. Since in many real-world facility location problems, the data are subject to uncertainty, in this thesis, we consider the P-center problem under uncertainty of demand nodes. Using Bertsimas and Sim approach, we modeled the problem as a linear optimization model. Furthermore, we develop a tabu search algorithm to solve the problem. Finally we designed some experiments to adjust the parameters of tabu search algorithm. We presented the numerical result accordingly

Feyerabend’s Point of View on Scientific Progress

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Yazdani, Homa (Author) ; Taghavi, Mostafa (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Feyarabend’s philosophy of science is against method and rule such that he believes that “anything goes”. However, he sometimes applies the term “progress”. Reviewing his publications shows that from his point of view, progress is qualitative and relative. So, unlike other philosophers of science Feyarabend ignores the clarification of the concept; subsequently, his applications of the term “progress” are somewhat ambiguous. However, by studying his philosophy, one may realize what should be done to achieve progress in any sense. The affirmative aspect of Feyerabend’s philosophy, while highlights the social and ethical elements, considering his humanitarian outlook as well as his special...

The concept of Social Ethics and Its Relation to the Politics from Hobbes Point of View

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Karimi, Sasan (Author) ; Taghavi, Mostafa (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this thesis, I study the concept of social ethics from a modern point of view. What I call modernity, is the fundamental philosophical revolution happened in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries in Europe, this period is called “Enlightenment”, what I assume is from Machiavelli to Kant. One of the most important philosophers belongs to this enlightenment period is Thomas Hobbes, a Scottish philosopher whose main book “Leviathan” is well-known as the basis of the modern politics. Modern politics makes sense against classical one, founded by Aristotle in a book mentioned under the same title. What Hobbes describes as society based on public interests etc. is in a different point of view...

On Feenberg’s Alternative Thinking About Virtual Space Technologies

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Rahimi, Morteza (Author) ; Taghavi, Mostafa (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Cultural and social problems in the modern age have motivated many thinkers to analyze modernity. Some of them have tried to solve these problems and, if possible, prevent their occurrence in the future. Proposed solutions are mostly dystopian, i.e. by being disappointed, they think the only possible way to overcome these problems is to annihilate modern civilization, or they pursue a passive approach; i.e. they have accepted the problems of modernity but only seek a way to mitigate its challenges. Among these, solutions which try to make use of the capacities of the modern civilization, especially emerging technologies, are really scarce. These approaches seek to realize (and make...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Nafari, Hossein (Author) ; Taghavi, Mostafa (Supervisor)
    Abstract
It has been five years since the new education system was started, according to which fundamental changes have been applied to school text books. The mentioned changes in the text books are based on “the fundamental transformation document” and “Iran’s national educational curriculum”. In “Iran’s national educational curriculum”, eleven fields concerning pedagogy and learning are explicitly mentioned; one of these eleven fields is “training and learning work and technology”. One of the merits which has been stressed in this field, is “technological thinking”. Nowadays, methods of extending and reinforcing the technological thinking have come to be the subject of investigations in many...

APIS’ Evolution Comprehension Via Analyzing the Q&As in the Stack Overflow Website

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Taghavi, Samira (Author) ; Heydarnoori, Abbas (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Client applications are often developed with the help of software frameworks in order to reduce the development costs and to increase the software quality. However, frameworks may evolve to add new features or to fix bugs, and thus, their APIs may change at the same time. Nevertheless, these API changes can cause the client applications to not work properly. New frameworks typically use the deprecation mechanism to reduce this effect, but their documents often do not provide sufficient information. Consequently, deprecated APIs usages remain unresolved in client applications. To tackle this issue, we introduce ARFES (Automated Recommender of Framework Evolution Solutions) that provides...

Religious Science: Comparison of Golshani's and Javadi Amoli's Views

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Fakheri, Marzieh (Author) ; Taghavi, Mostafa (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Religious science, its nature, possibility, and the mechanism of achievement have come to the fore in recent years. In this thesis, Javadi Amoli’s and Golshani’s theories are compared in this respect. Javadi Amoli begins by situating the reason, and certain knowledge as its product, in the architecture of religious knowledge. Since this kind of knowledge unveils divine action, Amoli counts it as already divine in nature. Therefore, there would be no conflict between science and religion in principle, unless atheist scientists insist on drawing non-empirical conclusions from sciences. Other conflicts too are superficial and resolvable. Amoli sees the fault of current sciences, which should be...

Explaining the Concept of Civilization by using Theory of Constructive Perceptions with Emphasis on Knowledge and Technology as Components of Civilization

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Tahani, Ali (Author) ; Taghavi, Mostafa (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The purpose of writing this thesis is to arrive at the concept of civilization. And in this process, using the constructive perception. My approach in constructive perception is different with approach of Allameh tabatabaei in constructive perception. In first chapter defining constructive perception as the perception that mind by analogy between two consepts makes the non-real relations and attributes it deliberated to the reality (the parties). Meanwhile, should have been constructive perception is the intermediary that stimulation our sense abut reality. These feelings can be tenderness or hatred or fear and hope and ... . In the second chapter we will show that the use of technology...

A memory efficient algorithm for multi-dimensional wavelet transform based on lifting

    , Article 2003 IEEE International Conference on Accoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, Hong Kong, 6 April 2003 through 10 April 2003 ; Volume 6 , 2003 , Pages 401-404 ; 15206149 (ISSN) Taghavi, Z ; Kasaei, S ; Sharif University of Technology
    2003
    Abstract
Conventional implementation of multi-dimensional wavelet transform (e.g. 3-D wavelet) requires whether a high amount of "in access" memory or a continual access to slow memory of a processor which makes it infeasible for most applications. In this paper, we proposed a novel algorithm for computation of an n-D discrete wavelet transform (DWT) based on lifting scheme. In addition to benefits of lifting scheme (which causes a major reduction in computational complexity and performs the total computations in time domain), our real-time approach computes the coefficients for all kinds of 1st and 2 nd generation wavelets with short delay and optimized utilization of the slow and fast memories of a...
