, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Azarpeyvand, Faezeh (Author) ; Yoozbashizadeh, Hossein (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The extraction of molybdenum and rhenium from acidic solution produced by pressure leaching of molybdenite concentrate, using organophosphorus solvents has been investigated. First, extraction of molybdenum by Di-2-EthyHexyl Phosphoric Acid (D2EHPA) extractant dissolved in kerosene diluents was done. Extraction experiments were designed using Taguchi L16b orthogonal array. The effects of four factors: Shaking time, Organic solvent concentration, Organic to aqueous phase ratio, pH were studied in four levels. Optimum conditions occur at: shaking time: 35 min, organic solvent concentration: 30 volumetric percent, organic to aqueous phase ratio: 3, pH: 7 and molybdenum is completely extracted....

    Abstract
In this work, the recovery of rhenium from ferromolybdenum furnace outgoing dust in semi industrial scale was conducted. The ferromolybdenum furnace outgoing dust contains rhenium as major part and large amounts of molybdenum plus Iron and copper as impurities. An overall flow sheet, consist of leaching, solvent extraction and precipitation methods, was design to recovery and purification of rhenium. Firstly, ferromolybdenum furnace outgoing dust was subjected to leaching treatment by 10 g/L sulfuric as solvent at 85 C. Secondly, solvent extraction method was employed, using LIX984N 10 %vol, to separate copper from rhenium containing solution. The results of MacCab thiele diagram for...

Structural and Functional Models for the Molybdenum, Tungsten and Copper Enzymes: Synthesis, Properties and Reactivity

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Moradi Shoeili, Zeinab (Author) ; Mohammadi Boghaei, Davar (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In order to obtain more insight into the enzymatic oxygen-atom-transfer (OAT) process and elucidate the relation between the structure and function of the synthetic model complexes, new molybdenum and tungsten complexes containing different chelating ligands were systematically prepared and investigated. Herein, the cis-dioxo-molybdenum(VI) complexes with new aromatic dithiolene ligands, formulated as [MoO2(2,3ppdt)2]NR4 and [MoO2(3,4ppdt)2]NR4, (2,3ppdt= pyrido-2,3-pyrazine-2,3-dithiolato, 3,4ppdt= pyrido-3,4-pyrazine-2,3-dithiol and R= Et or Bu) were prepared and investigated by elemental analysis, IR, 1H NMR and UV-Vis spectroscopic methods. An OAT reaction of [MoO2(2,3ppdt)2]2– with PPh3...

Recovery of Rhenium From Produced Leaching Solution of Sarcheshmeh Molybdenite Concentrate

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Khosravi, Mohammad Hadi (Author) ; Yoozbashizadeh, Hossein (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this study, molybdenum and rhenium extraction from alkaline solution of electro-oxidation leachinng of Sarcheshmeh molybdenite concentrate by solvent extraction using organophosphorous organic solvents, under different conditions has been investigated. The studied variables were organic solvent concentration, ratio of organic phase to aqueous phase and pH. Design Expert software and Central Composite Design method was performed to evaluate the effect of parameters and optimize recovery conditions. Molybdenum was extracted via Di-2-EthyHexyl Phosphoric Acid (D2EHPA) organic solvent diluted in kerosene initially, in order to reduce molybdenum ions interruptions during extraction of rhenium....

Synthesis and Catalytic Activity of Mo(VI) Oxo-peroxo Complex in Selective Oxidation of Sulfides to Sulfoxides and Alkenes to Epoxides

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Atabaki, Behnam (Author) ; Bagherzadeh, Mojtaba (Supervisor) ; Jamali, Sirous (Co-Advisor)
    Abstract
Considerable efforts have been directed in recent years towards the transition metal complex catalyzed oxidation of organic compounds. Among these, oxidation of sulfides to sulfoxides and alkenes to epoxides have specially been attended a lot, since sulfoxides and epoxides are important intermediates in organic synthesis. In this study [MoO(O2)(oxazine)2] complex has been synthesized and characterized by FT-IR and 1HNMR. This complex was found to be an efficient, selective catalyst for the oxidation of various sulfides to sulfoxides with urea hydrogen peroxide (UHP) in excellent yields (100% for dioctylsulfide) and short reaction times (20 min) at room temperature. Also this new efficient...

Preparation of Heterogeneous Catalysts by Immobilization of Molybdenum and Manganese-shiff Base Complexes into the Nanopores of Zeolite and SBA-15

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Zare, Maryam (Author) ; Bagherzadeh, Mojtaba (Supervisor)
    Abstract
This thesisconsiders new fundamental approaches to yield heterogeneous catalysts in to three sections. The first section described the immobilization of the molybdenum-Schiff base complexes in pores of SBA-15 in two different methodologies depending on the actual structure of the complexes., (i) stepwise formation of the complex by initial covalent anchoring of one of the components and consecutive solid phase synthesis consisting of the condensation of the other components of the salen complex (iii) one-step complex immobilization by covalent binding through the ligand.Based on the first methodology, we report the preparation of ordered mesoporous silica SBA-15 containing a molybdenum...

Electrodeposition of Graphene-Ni-Mo Coating on Titanium Substrate

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Arjang, Masomeh (Author) ; Afshar, Abdollah (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this study, linear polarization resistance (LPR) of cathodic pulse electrodeposited graphene- Nickel-Molybdenum coating is optimized by design of experiments approach (central composite design). Applied current density (i), cathodic pulse durations (Ton) and total electrodeposition time (Ttotal) are selected as the substantial factors. The best prediction model proposes a definitive linear relation without any significant interaction of the LPR by analysis of variance. The best value of LPR is achieved equal to 1406KΩ.cm2, obtaining at i of 137.5 A/cm2, Ton of 45.5 ms and Ttotal equal to 315 s. Polarization test is carried out to determine corrosion behavior of the coating. It shows...

    Abstract
In this study, the effect of molybdenum disulfide nanosheets on the rheological behavior of suspensions was investigated using a polyethylene glycol matrix and glass grain fillers with a particle distribution of 60 to 103 microns. Crude molybdenum disulfide was obtained by single-layer and multilayered molybdenum disulfide nanosheets with thicknesses between 50 and 100 nm using acid, oxidation and heat shock methods. This claim was verified by various tests such as FT-IR, FESEM,EDS, TEM, DLS, XRD and so on. Subsequently, using 10 to 40% volumetric glass beads were prepared from the sample matrix. Stirring and ultrasonic, rheological behavior of these suspensions were investigated using...

    Abstract
Molybdenum is one of the important elements of the intermediary metal with atomic number 42, which is used in various industries, but among the important uses of this metal in the nuclear industry, we can mention the presence of this element in the production of yellow cake as an impurity and also as a precursor for the production of radiopharmaceuticals. It is one of the impurities that remain in all stages of yellow cake production along with uranium, and the high presence of this element causes the centrifuges to become unbalanced during the injection of "U" "F" _"6" gas, and on the other hand, technetium, the main ingredient in the production of radiopharmaceuticals, It comes from the...
