Direct Synthesis of Dimethyl Ether from Carbon Dioxide
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Kazemeini, Mohammad (Supervisor) ; Aghaziarati, Mahmoud (Co-Advisor) ; Kazemian, Masoud (Co-Advisor)
Abstract
In this research, direct synthesis of dimethyl ether (DME) from CO2 hydrogenation in three phase slurry reactor was investigated. Bifunctional catalysts composed of Cu- ZnO-Al2O3-ZrO2 as hydrogenation component and zeolite Na-Mordenite as dehydration component, with different Al2O3 and ZrO2 contents were synthesized by coprecipitating sedimentation and influences of Al2O3 and ZrO2 on CO2 conversion and DME selectivity were evaluated. Results show, both Al2O3 and ZrO2 enhanced conversion, but Al2O3 markedly increase selectivity of DME. However, when the total contents of Al2O3 and ZrO2 was increased up to 16 wt% , CO2 conversion and DME selectivity remarkably decreased. BET and XRD analyzes...
Optimal Locating and Sizing of Distributed Resources for Transmission Congestion Managemet
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Abbaspour-Tehrani Fard, Ali (Supervisor) ; Rashidinejad, Masoud (Supervisor)
Abstract
This thesis presents a variety of methods have been proposed for optimal locating and sizing of Distributed Resource (DR) in restructured power system to reduce congestion and enhance security. Initially three different methodologies, based upon LMP and congestion rent, are presented that form priority list of candidate buses to reduce solution space. For taking into account security, The N−1 contingency criterion is performed and then a priority list of the worst contingencies from congestion rent point of view is organized. Based upon both normal condition and selected contingencies of the network a priority list of buses for optimal placement and for each level of power output of DR is...
Design of a Non-Bianry Analog to Digital Converterfor Impantable Neural Recording Microsystem
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Sharifkhani, Mohammad (Supervisor) ; Sodagar, Amir Masoud (Supervisor)
Abstract
A new structure of implantable neural recording microsystem base on multiple valued logic (MVL) has been proposed. MVL is a new idea for reduction of occupied area and the power consumption of microelectronic. In another side, in implantable microsystems , occupied area and power consumption by this type of micro systems is a challenging problem in this field. Therefore, the problem of power consumption and occupied area can introduce as a prime stage of suggested microsystem completed design of convertor of analog to digital in usage of multiple level in this micro system worked. Design of convertor of analog to digital is a convertor of quaternary successive approximation. And also,...

Abstract
Indoline-2-thiones (5) were applied as 1,3-dinucleophiles in a tandem reaction with Baylis-Hillman adduct acetates (4) to give novel tetrahydrothiopyrano[2,3-b]indole skeletons (6). The effect of different solvents, bases, and catalysts on the yields and stereochemical outcome was studied in detail. The results indicated that acetonitrile as solvent and K 2CO3 as base, under reflux conditions, were the optimum conditions. Products 6a-6l were obtained in high diastereoselectivity and yield (up to 94%)
How Do Institutional Pressures Affect the Level of BIM Adoption in Organisations: An AEC Industry Analysis
, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology ; Mashayekhi, Alinaghi (Supervisor) ; Talebian, Masoud (Supervisor) ; Harrison, Norma (Supervisor) ; Moser, Roger (Supervisor)
Abstract
In an era of data revolution, information systems (IS) and information technologies (IT) play a vital role in the survival of organisations. However, technology application within organisations does not happen automatically or seamlessly. Various external and internal factors can affect the different stages of the technology adoption process, from decision-making to inter- and intra-organisational diffusion. The investigation of factors that influence the adoption level of various technological solutions in different contexts has been an interesting subject for scholars. This study examines the mechanisms through which various factors affect organisations in the architecture, engineering and...

Abstract
Catalytic activity of carbon/Pt nanoparticles modified TiO 2 nanotubes electrode was studied by using dopamine contained solutions. The TiO 2 nanotubes electrode was prepared using anodizing method in aqueous solution. The electrochemical pulse method was then applied for electrodeposition of Pt nanoparticles onto the TiO 2 nanotubes. Further modification was achieved by decomposition of polyethylene glycol in a tube furnace to have a carbon/Pt nanoparticles modified TiO 2 nanotubes electrode. The final modified electrode could successfully detect the electro-oxidation of dopamine in a ImM contained solution using cyclic voltametry method. Also, a high sensitivity towards the oxidation of...
Synthesis of Titania Coated Upconversion Nanoparticles with the Capability of Being Utilized in Photodynamic Therapy Under the Near-Infrared Radiation
, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology ; Madaaah Hosseini, Hamid Reza (Supervisor) ; Soleimani, Masoud (Supervisor) ; Mohajerani, Ezeddin (Co-Supervisor)
Abstract
Development of novel photosensitizers and photocatalysts with near-infrared (NIR) light activity and efficient sunlight harvesting is of great importance in photodynamic therapy and environmental remediation. In this work, very small (20 nm) upconverter SrF2:Yb,Tm@CaF2:Yb@Fluorine-doped TiO2 heteronanoparticles (denoted as UCNPs@TiO2) with strong UV-blue emission and wide-spectrum photocatalytic activity were synthesized via a facile three-step hydrothermal method, for the first time. The SrF2: Yb,Tm upconverter nanoparticles were produced as the light-emitting core, epitaxially-grown CaF2 : Yb as the middle shell to enhance the Upconversion luminescence efficiency and TiO2 as the...

Abstract
It remains unclear whether causal, rather than merely correlational, relationships in molecular networks can be inferred in complex biological settings. Here we describe the HPN-DREAM network inference challenge, which focused on learning causal influences in signaling networks. We used phosphoprotein data from cancer cell lines as well as in silico data from a nonlinear dynamical model. using the phosphoprotein data, we scored more than 2,000 networks submitted by challenge participants. The networks spanned 32 biological contexts and were scored in terms of causal validity with respect to unseen interventional data. A number of approaches were effective, and incorporating known biology was...
