Fabrication and Evaluation of Catalytic Microreactors to Verify the Conversion of Ethyl Mercaptan

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Karami Basiri, Mohammad (Author) ; Kazemeini, Mohammad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Sulfur compounds are largely an impurity in fossil fuels such as natural gas, crude oil and coal. In natural gas, the main sulfur compounds are hydrogen sulfide (H2S), carbonyl sulfide (COS),and C1-C3 mercaptans.Commercial methods for removing these compounds require the introduction of additional reactive substances (O2, H2, Olefins, NaOH, etc.), which often results in the production of other pollutants. Microfluid is a branch of science and technology that involves studying the behavior of fluid, the use of fluid and the manufacture of equipment or systems that are carried out in micro-channels.The dimensions of these canals are about ten to several hundred micrometers, and high of...

The Investigation of the Forecast of Rail-Passenger Transport Ticket Reservation Demand

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Kazemi Asl, Ali (Author) ; Karami, Naser (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Demand estimation has always been one of the most important components of marketing in all industries. Because the profitability of any organization depends on the demand for the product or service that the organization offers to the market. On the other hand, in order to optimize the performance of the organization and better planning, we need to have an estimate of demand in order to avoid wasting the available facilities by optimally allocating resources. Another issue that shows the importance of demand estimation is the dependence of optimal pricing on the amount of demand, which can be said to be the most important tool of the organization to manage its revenue. Optimal pricing can be...

Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc  2021
    Abstract
The design of a novel Continuous Fractional-Order Nonsingular Terminal Sliding Mode controller is the focus of this study. Time Delay Estimation technique is incorporated into the controller. The proposed method is responsible for controlling the human knee joint neuromusculoskeletal model via Functional Electrical Stimulation. A second-order nonlinear model with time-varying coefficients is used for characterizing the FES-stimulated neuromusculoskeletal model. The presence of time-varying coefficients often complicates precise control of knee joint through FES and impairs the performance of conventional methods. To this end, the TDECFONTSM has been proposed consisting of three components, a...

Effects of Stiffness Distribution on Demand Reduction in Elastic MDOF Structures

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Ghaedizadeh, Arash (Author) ; Karami Mohammadi, Reza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The present research illustrates the Effects of Stiffness Distribution on Demand Reduction in Elastic Multi Degree Freedom Structures. The structural configuration of a structure has an important effect on dynamic performance of it and its nonstructural contents. For equipment, the displacement or acceleration demand is defined in terms of the input motion applied at the appropriate attachment point(s) of the equipment. This demand or input motion is generally represented by an in-structure response spectrum (IRS). The IRS will differ significantly from the design base earthquake (DBE) spectrum because it is essentially filtered and/or amplified through the building. To assess the realistic...

An upper bound for total domination subdivision numbers

    , Article Ars Combinatoria ; Volume 102 , February , 2011 , Pages 321-331 ; 03817032 (ISSN) Karami, H ; Khodkar, A ; Sheikholeslami, S. M ; Sharif University of Technology
    2011
    Abstract
A set S of vertices of a graph G = (V, E) without isolated vertex is a total dominating set if every vertex of V(G) is adjacent to some vertex in S. The total domination number γt(G) is the minimum cardinality of a total dominating set of G. The total domination subdivision number sd γt (G) is the minimum number of edges that must be subdivided (each edge in G can be subdivided at most once) in order to increase the total domination number. In this paper we first prove that sdγt(G) < n -δ + 2 for every simple connected graph G of order n ≥ 3. We also classify all simple connected graphs G with sdγt (G) = n -δ+ 2,n-δ + 1, and n-δ

Analysis and design of 4-path filter using gyrator based complex impedance

    , Article AEU - International Journal of Electronics and Communications ; Volume 70, Issue 11 , 2016 , Pages 1532-1542 ; 14348411 (ISSN) Karami, P ; Behmanesh, B ; Atarodi, S. M ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier GmbH  2016
    Abstract
A novel N-path filter using a complex impedance is designed to replace the frontend SAW filters in receivers with on-chip bandpass filters. It is demonstrated that the center frequency of the filter can be tuned solely by changing the value of some capacitances without the need to change the clock frequency. In addition, thanks to the use of smaller capacitors, the silicon area is reduced compared to similar designs. The high-Q bandpass filter is realized utilizing two gyrators and an arrangement of four baseband capacitors with NMOS switches, driven by 4-phase 25% duty cycle clock signals. This paper also analyzes the performance of the proposed filter against imperfections such as thermal...

    Abstract
An adaptive tracker to address the problem of tracking objects which undergo abrupt and significant motion changes is introduced. Abrupt motion of objects is an issue which makes tracking a challenging task. To address this problem, a new adaptive motion model is proposed. The model is integrated into the sequential importance resampling particle filter (SIR PF), which is the most popular probabilistic tracking framework. In this model, in each time step, if necessary, the particles' configurations are updated by using feedback information from the observation likelihood. In order to overcome the local-trap problem, local search algorithm with best improvement strategy is used to update...

    , Article Utilitas Mathematica ; Volume 78 , 2009 , Pages 121-128 ; 03153681 (ISSN) Karami, H ; Khodkar, A ; Sheikholeslami, S. M ; Sharif University of Technology
    2009
    Abstract
The closed neighborhood N G[e] of an edge e in a graph G is the set consisting of e and of all edges having a common end-vertex with e. Let f be a function on E(G), the edge set of G, into the set {-1, 1}. If σ xεN[e] f(x) ≥ 1 for each e ε E(G), Then f is called a signed edge dominating function of G. The minimum of the values of σ xεE(G) f(x), taken over every signed edge dominating function f of G, is called the signed edge domination number of G and is denoted by γ′ s(G). It has been conjectured that γ′ s(G) ≥ n - 1 for every simple graph G of order n. In this paper we prove that this conjecture is true for Eulerian simple graphs, simple graphs with all vertices of odd degree and regular...

Determination of Hydrazine and Phenylhydrazine Based on Formation of Gold Nanoparticles Stabilized with Non-ionic Surfactants

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Karami, Pari (Author) ; Hormozi Nezhad, Mohammad Reza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
A simple and effective procedure is proposed for colorimetric detection of hydrazine and phenylhydrazine. It was found that the reduction of AuCl4- to gold nanoparticles (Au-NPs) by these compunds in the presence of Tween-20 as a stabilizing agent produced very intense surface plasmon resonance peak of Au-NPs. The plasmon absorbance of the Au-NPs allows the quantitative spectrophotometric detection of the hydrazine and phenylhydrazine. The calibration curves derived from the changes in absorbance at λ = 530 and λ = 550 nm for hydrazine and phenylhydrazine, respectively were linear with concentration of hydrazine and phenylhydrazine in the range of 1.0×10-6- 2.0×10-4 M, 5×10-6 - 4×10-4 M,...

    Abstract
This paper investigates a reliability-centered approach for the placement procedure of remote terminal units (RTUs) in power distribution systems. Entire attempt is contributed to incorporate the practical aspects interrelated with the problem, e.g. the accessibility to the candidate substations, the load point criticality, as well as the load probabilistic behavior and consequently the inevitable variation in the electricity price. The placement process is done through an optimization problem wherein the common reliability indices, as the decisive factors in the placement process, are going to be minimized. The approach is successfully applied to a real power distribution feeder of Iran's...

Modeling and Analysis of D2D Data Offloading

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Karami, Farzan (Author) ; Ashtiani, Farid (Supervisor) ; Mirmohseni, Mahtab (Co-Advisor)
    Abstract
The increase in mobile data traffic adversely affects the quality of service experienced by mobile users. Moreover, the cost incurred by developing infrastructure exceeds its profit. Therefore, there is a trend toward finding cost effective schemes to cope with increase in mobile data traffic. One of the recent elegant solutions is mobile data offloading based on D2D communications. In this thesis, we propose a new offloading scheme using D2D communications for delay-tolerant services. In this regard, we assume a common file is demanded by a subset of users in different time instances and we accumulate demands to serve them in a scheme where devices are divided into non-overlapping...

Production of Zirconium based Amorphous Alloy by Mechanical Alloying and Sintering Al-based Composite with Amorphous Particles

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Karami, Soleyman (Author) ; Pourazarang, Kazem (Supervisor) ; Abachi, Parvin (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Production of copper-zirconium amorphous alloys by mechanical alloying and the process of changing crystal structure to amorphous, was examined. The amount of progress of amorphization has been checked by x-ray analysis after different hours of milling. By increasing the percentage of zirconium in this type of alloy, the process of amorphization has been improved. But There is a limiting factor which is due to the tendency of zirconium to produce oxide and nitride phase. Also, the effect of excessive elements on crystal structure changing has been checked. Hence, adding elements like nickel or aluminum has a different effect on the process of amorphization. adding aluminum to the system...
