    Abstract
    Co/SBA-15 nanoparticle catalysts (CoNP) were prepared using a commonly adapted synthetic route and then utilised for esterification and amidation reactions using aromatic and linear chain compounds for the production of long chain esters and amides. The study shows that the use of CoNP catalysts favours the use of aromatic reactants with electron donating substituents specifically in the para position. For the amidation reaction, good to excellent yields were obtained demonstrating tolerance towards differently substituted aromatic compounds. Overall, the synthesized catalysts proved to be efficient and highly versatile, and recyclable under the investigated conditions

    This paper deals with obtaining aromatherapic textiles via applying stimuli-responsive poly N-isopropyl acryl amide (PNIPAAm) chitosan (PNCS) nano hydrogels containing cinnamon oil on cotton fabric and looks into the treated fabric characteristics as an antibacterial and temperaturepH responsive fabric. The semi-batch surfactant-free dispersion polymerization method was proposed to the synthesis of PNCS nano particles.     Three strategies were employed for the assembly of gold nanoparticles on silica-coated magnetite particles (SCMPs). In strategy I, citrate-coated gold nanoparticles were attached on the surface of amine-SCMPs. In strategy II, amine-SCMPs were coated with carboxylated gold nanoparticles via amide bond formation. In strategy III, the thiol-SCMPs surface was coated with gold nanoparticles.     Atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) is a convenient approach to synthesis of polymer with narrow molecular weight distribution. ATRP of acrylamide (AAm) is taken into consideration because of the intrinsic properties of acrylamide such as water solubility and biocompatibility.     A series of novel pseudopeptides contained coumarin skeleton were synthesized through the Ugi-four-component reaction. The 3-substituted coumarin-3-carboxamides were formed through reaction of benzaldehyde derivatives, anilines, coumarin-3- carboxylic acid and isocyanides with high yields and high bond-forming efficiency at room temperature.     Abstract
    The synthesis and swelling behavior of a new superabsorbent hydrogel based on natural salep grafted with polyacrylamide is described. The new biopolymer was synthesized via simultaneous crosslinking and graft copolymerization of acrylamide monomer onto a salep backbone using radiochemical methods. Various parameters such as relative contents of salep and acrylamide, as well as total dose of γ-rays were examined. The best synthesis condition is reported and a mechanism for superabsorbent hydrogel formation suggested. Factors affecting the swelling behavior of hydrogel were also studied. © 2008 Elsevier B.V.     Submicron sized polyacrylamide particles were prepared via modified precipitation polymerization method. Experimental design based on Taguchi approach was employed to study the influence of the polymerization composition including monomer (acrylamide), crosslinker (methylenebisacrylamide), initiator (azobisisobutyronitrile), and modifier (polyvinylpyrrolidone, K-30), on the size and morphology of the particles.
