    , Article Journal of Transportation Safety and Security ; Volume 9 , 2017 , Pages 178-203 ; 19439962 (ISSN) Najaf, P ; Isaai, M. T ; Lavasani, M ; Thill, J. C ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Traffic safety policies are still conventionally ranked on financial and environmental criteria in developing countries, yet the equity concept can be advantageously used as an integral part of the process of traffic safety policy making. Equity in transportation is defined as how appropriately and equally the impacts of transportation are distributed among different types of users. The main contribution of this research is to introduce traffic safety equity in transportation policy making. The authors advocate for a modeling framework that considers traffic safety equity as a focal point. The analytical network process overcomes the drawbacks of data intensive models that are so difficult...

    , Article Journal of Forestry Research ; Volume 22, Issue 2 , May , 2011 , Pages 301-310 ; 1007662X (ISSN) Azizi, M ; Modarres, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    2011
    Abstract
A study was conducted to select the best alternative for the development of construction panels as well as investment in its manufacturing in Iran. Three alternatives are considered, cement-bonded wood composite product, substituted products (such as concrete panel) sandwich panel and a mixture of them. We apply the analytic network process (ANP) to achieve this goal. A hierarchy is designed to prioritize benefits, opportunities, costs and risks (BOCR) by using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) ratings approach. To evaluate the "control criteria" of the system, a control hierarchy is also created and prioritized by applying the Analytic Network Process (ANP). A total of four major control...

Provide a Comprehensive Model to Select the Appropriate Mode and Method of Technology Acquisition, Using Analytic Network Process

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Jahani, Hamed (Author) ; Eshraghniaye Jahromi, Abdolhamid (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Selection of appropriate acquisition mode for a required technology is one of the critical strategic decisions in formulating a technology strategy. Although a number of factors were found to be influential in the choice of technology acquisition mode, it still remains a void in the literature how to make a strategic decision, based on a huge set of those factors with the help of a systematic approach. This study deals with the selection of technology acquisition mode & method as a multiple criteria decision making (MCDM) problem. It tries to provide more appropriate solution for prioritizing technology acquisition modes through analytic network process (ANP), along with considering internal...

Sensitivity Analysis on Individual Judgments in Analytic Hierarchy Process and Analytic Network Process

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Kanani Kuchesfehani, Elnaz (Author) ; Kianfar, Farhad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Nowadays, the world is full of multi criteria decision problems and all the people should make decisions in different situations. Sometimes, the result of a decision problem is so important as a wrong decision may result in a loss that cannot be compensated. Therefore a decision making tool seems as a must. On the other hand, in this era of rapid social and technological change leading to increasing life complexity, sensitivity analysis is an important issue in all decision making processes. Analytic Hierarchy Process and Analytic Network Process, as two common tools for multi criteria decision making, are widely used throughout the past decade in different fields. Designing the model and...

    Abstract
The objective of this research is to design a method for selection of an appropriate location to establish plywood and veneer plants in Iran. Due to the climate of this region as well as the destruction of the forests and lack of proper plantation, the supporting forests to feed this industry are limited. Thus, it is vital to optimize the other strategically factors in order to make these plants capable of competing with the foreign plants which have access to less expensive input materials. In case of improper utilization of the resources, this industry can not compete with the imported products. The decision is made within the framework of benefits, opportunities, costs and risks (BOCR)....

A multi-criteria study on rammed earth for low carbon buildings using a novel ANP-GA approach

    , Article Energy and Buildings ; Volume 150 , 2017 , Pages 466-476 ; 03787788 (ISSN) Pakand, M ; Toufigh, V ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Nowadays, the growth of energy consumption in buildings is an important topic. Rammed earth (RE) structures have attracted the attention of engineers and contractors in recent years due to their advantages such as sustainability, availability and low embodied energy content. These advantages result in less energy consumption in the life cycle of the RE structures. However, there is a lack of research on the mixture composition of RE materials containing admixtures. This research introduced integrated analytic network process (ANP) and genetic algorithm (GA) methodology to select the optimum mixture of RE material containing cement, expanded polystyrene(EPS), and phase change materials(PCM)...
