    Abstract
A power-law compensator scheme for achieving robust frequency compensation in control systems including plants with an uncertain pole, is introduced in this work. This is achieved through an appropriate selection of the compensator parameters, which guarantee that the Nyquist diagram of the open-loop system compensator-plant crosses a fixed point independent of the plant pole variations. The implementation of the fractional-order compensator is performed through the utilization of a curve-fitting-based technique and the derived rational integer-order transfer function is realized on a Field-Programmable Analog Array device. The experimental results confirm that the the phase margin is well...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Karimi, Maryam (Author) ; Kermanshah, Ali (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Possessing second place among gas reserve owner countries worldwide, Iran enjoys a very particular position in energy supply field. The crude oil is about to be replaced by natural gas in fuel sector because of growing demand for natural gas along with depletion of crude oil reserves. Some other drivers to this change are the increase in the known reserves of natural gas, the need to monetize stranded gas reserves and the environmental pressure to minimize the flaring of associated gas and carbon dioxide emissions. In such conditions the optimum consumption of these national abundant resources results in obtaining considerable revenues and strong presence of Iran in world consumption...

Based on the gravity approach, a generalized method of moments panel estimator is applied to rigorously address the endogeneity problem in both static and dynamic versions of the model. In addition, the nonstationary and cointegrating features of variables are discussed. The author finds that high-tech exports from the emerging countries are mainly based on foreign direct investment inflows and participation in the international production chain, as well as a high degree of...

Addressing the growth failure of the oil economies: The role of financial development

    , Article Quarterly Review of Economics and Finance ; Volume 46, Issue 5 , 2007 , Pages 726-740 ; 10629769 (ISSN) Nili, M ; Rastad, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    2007
    Abstract
The oil exporting countries have experienced a relatively continuous fall in GDP per capita over the last 30 years. This is in spite of benefiting from a more than average of the rest of the world investment rate. The findings of this paper, report a lower level of financial development for the oil economies when compared with the rest of the world. We will show in this paper that the higher rate of investment of the oil economies can be explained mainly by the oil revenues and surprisingly, financial development has a net dampening effect on investment for these economies. The paper also shows that the weakness of financial institutions, contributes to the poor performance of economic...

    Abstract
This paper explains a thorough exergy analysis of the most important reactions in soil– plant interactions. Soil, which is a prime mover of gases, metals, structural crystals, and electrolytes, constantly resembles an electric field of charge and discharge. The second law of thermodynamics reflects the deterioration of resources through the destruction of exergy. In this study, we developed a new method to assess the exergy of soil and plant formation processes. Depending on the types of soil, one may assess the efficiency and degradation of resources by incorporating or using biomass storage. According to the results of this study, during different processes from the mineralization process...

    Abstract
This paper uses autoregressive jump intensity (ARJI) model to show that the oil price has both GARCH and conditional jump component. In fact, the distribution of oil prices is not normal, and oil price returns have conditional heteroskedasticity. Here the authors compare constant jump intensity with the dynamic jump intensity and evidences demonstrate that oil price returns have dynamic jump intensity. Therefore, there is strong evidence of time varying jump intensity Generalized Autoregressive Heteroscedasticity (GARCH) behavior in the oil price returns. The findings have several implications: first, it shows that oil price is highly sensitive to news, and it does settle around a trend in...

Calculating Sustainable Level of Government Expenditures and Non-Oil Primary Deficit in Iran

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Azizirad, Marieh (Author) ; Nili, Massoud (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Fiscal sustainability in Iran is essential for the government to make sure to sustain its current policies in the long run without defaulting on liabilities or expenditures. On the other hand, fiscal sustainability in Iran, as an oil-exporting country, is essential to prevent fluctuations in macro economy in short run due to fluctuations in oil price. In this paper, by simulating two models, the sustainable level of government expenditures and primary non-oil budget deficit are calculated. The first model shows the optimal use of oil revenues. In the second model government decides to cut using oil revenues in budget; based on this aim, the revenues allocated to expenditures and saving are...
