    , Article Journal of the Iranian Chemical Society ; Volume 15, Issue 10 , 2018 , Pages 2401-2410 ; 1735207X (ISSN) Ghiasi, M ; Gerayeli, N ; Tafazzoli, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Chrysin is a bioflavonoid which possesses a wide range of important biological activities. In present study, we used a quantum mechanical approach to shed light on the antioxidant ability and antioxidant mechanism of chrysin to scavenge hydroxyl radical (˙OH) in solution phase. The analysis of the theoretical bond dissociation enthalpy (BDE) values and spin density of the radicals to determine the delocalization possibilities at B3LYP/6-311++G** level clearly shows the importance of the A-ring and the 7-OH group in antioxidant reactivity. In the next step, the inclusion of chrysin with β-CD has been investigated extensively using theoretical methods. Density functional theory (M05-2X)...

Experimental Study of the β-CD-g-PG Hybrid Nanostructure On Phase Solubilityof Hydrophobic Drug

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Asadi, Farshid (Author) ; Saifkordi, Aliakbar (Supervisor) ; Vossoughi, Manouchehr (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Some widely used drugs such as paclitaxel (PTX) are poorly water soluble. The clinical use of PTX with solubilizer causes side effects. These problems limited its application in treatments. In this work has been studied the effect of β-CD-g-PG (HPCD) hybrid nanomaterials, conjugated PG branches onto β-CD core, on the water solubility of PTX. First HPCD has been synthesized. Then the inclusion complex of PTX with HPCD was prepared. The inclusion complex efficiency for PTX:HPCD complex in 1:25 mole ratio was 87%. Then solubility of PTX with HPCD in water has been determined, showing Ap type phase solubility diagram. Then stability constants were calculated. The first order and second order...

Investigation of phase Solubility Enhancement of Paclitaxel by Inclusion Complex of drug in B-CD-g-PG

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Jandaghi, Morteza (Author) ; Yaghmaei, Soheyla (Supervisor) ; Vossoughi, Manoochehr (Supervisor) ; Kazemi Daliri, Akhtarolmoluk (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Paclitaxel is using as a drug against breast and ovary cancers. Although paclitaxel has high biologic activity, it has very poor solubility in water the same as some other drugs. Since drugs should be solved in water to be absorbed by the body, for absorb enhancement, we should use carriers which includes both polar and non polar sites.
Beta-Cyclodextrin which has this feature is capable for producing inclusion complex in its hydrophobic pores with non polar materials. In this project, by adding polymeric polyglycerol branches on Beta-Cyclodextrin, a polymeric nanostructure has been developed to enhance water solubility in comparison with pure Beta-Cyclodextrin.
    Study on producing...

    Abstract
Antioxidants are compounds with anti-cancer, anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-aging and anti-allergic properties. In the present study, a quantum mechanical approach has been used to shed light on the presence effect of glycoside group on the antioxidant ability of chrysin as one of the most important consumable flavonoids and two glycoside derivatives, chrysin-6-C-fucopyranoside and chrysin-3-malonyl-6-C-fucopyranoside which has electron-withdrawing group (EWG) in its C3 of glycoside group. Density functional theory (DFT) using B3LYP and UB3LYP functional and split-valance 6-311++G ** basis set were used to optimize chrysin, its different derivatives, and their radicals. Analysis of...

Determination of stress distribution around two Carbon Nonotubes embedded in infinite metal matrix using nonlocal theory of elasticity

    , Article Applied Mechanics and Materials, 29 July 2011 through 31 July 2011 ; Volume 110-116 , July , 2012 , Pages 1696-1700 ; 16609336 (ISSN) ; 9783037852620 (ISBN) Niaki, S. A ; Naghdabadi, R ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Stress distribution in Carbon Nanotube (CNT) reinforced composites is studied using nonlocal theory of elasticity. Two nearby CNTs are modeled as two circular inclusions embedded in an infinite elastic medium, and classical stresses are obtained using the complex stress potential method. Nonlocal stresses are calculated using nonlocal integral elasticity equation. Effects of the distance between CNTs as well as effects of the nonlocal parameters on the stress distribution and stress concentration are studied. For unit normal stress at infinity, stress at the interface of the CNT and matrix increases from 0.1 for classical analysis to 0.85 for nonlocal analysis. Furthermore, when two CNTs...

Paclitaxel/β-CD-g-PG inclusion complex: An insight into complexation thermodynamics and guest solubility

    , Article Journal of Molecular Liquids ; Volume 208 , August , 2015 , Pages 145-150 ; 01677322 (ISSN) Zarrabi, A ; Vossoughi, M ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Paclitaxel as one of the most effective anticancer drugs has low aqueous solubility. This inevitably reveals its commercial formulation in Cremophor EL®/ethanol mixture. However, this formulation leads to several severe side effects such as hypersensitivity reactions, neurotoxicity and nephrotoxicity. Inclusion complexation has been introduced as a practical approach in increasing paclitaxel aqueous solubility. To this end, a hybrid nanocarrier system based on hyperbranched polyglycerol and β-cyclodextrin is designed with key components uniquely structured at nanoscale and evaluated according to medical requirements. Paclitaxel is included in the hydrophobic cavity of cyclodextrin as guest...

    Abstract
Aim: In this study, a nanosponge structure was synthesised with capability of encapsulating curcumin as a model polyphenolic compound and one of the herbal remedies that have widely been considered due to its ability to treat cancer. Methods: FTIR, DSC and XRD techniques were performed to confirm the formation of the inclusion complex of the nanosponge-drug. Results: DSC and XRD patterns showed an increasing stability and a decreasing crystallinity of curcumin after formation of inclusion complex. Encapsulation efficiency was 98% (w/w) and a significant increase was observed in loading capacity (184% w/w). The results of cytotoxicity assessments demonstrated no cell toxicity on the healthy...

Design and Synthesis of Novel Polyglycerol Hybrid Nanomaterials for Potential Applications in Drug Delivery Systems

    , Article Macromolecular Bioscience ; Volume 11, Issue 3 , NOV , 2011 , Pages 383-390 ; 16165187 (ISSN) Zarrabi, A ; Adeli, M ; Vossoughi, M ; Shokrgozar, M. A ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
The synthesis of a new drug delivery system based on hybrid nanomaterials containing a β-CD core and hyperbranched PG is described. Conjugating PG branches onto β-CD not only increases its water solubility but also affects its host/guest properties deeply. It can form molecular inclusion complexes with small hydrophobic guest molecules such as ferrocene or FITC with reasonable release. In addition, the achievable payloads are significantly higher as for carriers such as hyperbranched PGs. Short-term in vitro cytotoxicity and hemocompatibility tests on L929 cell lines show that the hybrid nanomaterial is highly biocompatible. Due to their outstanding properties, β-CD-g-PG hybrid nanomaterials...
