    Uptake characteristics of alginate microcapsules containing D2EHPA/TOPO for adsorption of uranium from industrial effluent were examined using batch, stirred and column method .stable alginate microcapsules in dried form was developed by immobilizing of D2EHPA/TOPO in porous matrix of calcium alginate. Characteristics of microcapsules were carrying out by destructive chemical analysis, BET, SEM and TG .the synthesized microcapsules showed a good column properties and high selectivity and reusability.     Abstract
    Most natural folate derivatives are highly sensitive to temperature, oxygen and light and their stability depends on food process condition. Alginate and pectin were evaluated for folic acid encapsulation and increasing its stability. By combining them and optimising encapsulation condition the efficiency was enhanced up to 90% . Furthermore, using polymers in combined form caused decrease in folic acid leakage from capsules in acidic condition of stomach.     A novel microcapsule adsorbent for separation of uranium from phosphoric acid solutions was developed by immobilizing the di(2-ethylhexyl) phosphoric acid-trioctyl phosphine oxide extractants in the polymeric matrix of calcium alginate. Physical characterization of the microcapsules was accomplished by scanning electron microscopy and thermogravimetric techniques. Equilibrium experiments revealed that both ion exchange and solvent extraction mechanisms were involved in the adsorption of ions, but the latter prevailed in a wider range of acid concentration.     A comparative study on the uptake properties of alginate microcapsules containing Cyanex 302 extractant, Lewatite TP 214 chelating resin, and Amberlite 200CT strongly acidic ion exchanger has been conducted using Ag+ as the target ion. The study resulted in an analytical formula, as well as three phenomenological breakthrough formulas that are also applicable in other fixed-bed operations.     To describe immobilized cells in porous microcapsule membranes with straight pores, a novel model called corrugated parallel bundle model (CPBM) was utilized. In this model, a network was developed with 10 main pores each composing 10 pore elements. Cell growth kinetic in the network was examined using non-structural models. Effectiveness factor and pore plugging time were calculated by solving reaction-diffusion equation set via finite difference method. The findings revealed that diffusion coefficient for lower order reactions will create a lesser impact on the reduction of effectiveness factor.     Abstract
    Symmetric T junctions have been used widely in microfluidics to generate equal-sized microdroplets, which are applicable in drug delivery systems. A newly proposed method for generating unequal-sized microdroplets at a T junction is investigated theoretically and experimentally. Asymmetric T junctions with branches of identical lengths and different cross sections are utilized for this aim. An equation for the critical breakup of droplets at asymmetric T junctions and one for determining the breakup point of droplets are developed.
