    Abstract
Evaluation and control of suspended sediment load as one of the main water quality concerns is important in large basins, especially in basins with planned dam construction. Success in sediment control measures depends, in particular, on proper identification of sediment sources. Since observations alone are normally not adequate for source prioritization/contribution in relation to the downstream sediment loads, hydrological simulation tools may be applied for spatial prioritization of runoff and sediment yield in basins. In this paper, subbasin prioritization was conducted for the Gharasu basin, located in southwestern Iran. Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) model was calibrated and...

    Abstract
This study investigates critical run-off and sediment production sources in a forested Kasilian watershed located in northern Iran. The Water Erosion Prediction Project (WEPP) watershed model was set up to simulate the run-off and sediment yields. WEPP was calibrated and validated against measured rainfall-run-off-sediment data. Results showed that simulated run-off and sediment yields of the watershed were in agreement with the measured data for the calibration and validation periods. While low and medium values of run-off and sediment yields were adequately simulated by the WEPP model, high run-off and sediment yield values were underestimated. Performance of the model was evaluated as...

Prioritizing Patients in the Aftermath of Mass Casualty Events Considering Different Resources

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Mohammadi, Reyhaneh (Author) ; Shavandi, Hassan (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In the aftermath of mass-casualty events, main resources may be overwhelmed by the sudden jump in demand. To ration these resources with considering the patients priority for help, mean triage. For prioritizing the patient for help, the limitation of resources should be considered. These resources can be different. This thesis at the first step investigates how the priority assignment can be done in a clearing system and what the potential benefits would be when there are same resources in the system. At the next step, the difference between resources is considered. So in this thesis, the problem of priority assignment of patients in an emergency system is modeled and analyzed at first with...

    Abstract
In this thesis, we investigate the age of information in multisource networks. To this end, in the first phase of this thesis, we evaluate the Age of Information (AoI) in slotted ALOHA network. Regarding the interactions among the nodes in such a network, we model the memory of this network with a Trellis and find the peak Age of Information (PAoI) by using this Trellis. Then, we evaluate Age of Information-constrained regions and achievable throughput regions in the slotted ALOHA network and optimize Age of information in a symmetric case. In the second phase, we propose an efficient prioritizing scheme from AoI point of view and find the distribution of AoI and PAoI in such a scheme with...

A Model for Hierarchical Production Planning in a Make-to-order System

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Alavi, Behrouz (Author) ; Kianfar, Farhad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
A hierarchical production system in make-to-order environment is presented in this thesis. This production system is consisted of three different decision making levels. Maximum acceptance for production within customer specified time interval was done in the first stage, which is called order arriving stage, based on different client criteria, type of demanded product, and production system constraints. A new hierarchical decision making structure for accepting or rejecting arriving orders is proposed in this level. The output of this acceptance level is orders having maximum production system defined criteria, and minimum production cost along with order delivery time with minimum delay is...

Improvment of Plant Availabilty Through Failure Prioritization Approach

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Arasteh khouy, Iman; Shafigh, Farhang (Author) ; Ghodrati, Behzad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In order to survive in the competitive market, companies should increase the availability of plants. In order to increase the availability of a system, the occurrence of failures should be decreased. It is not possible to eliminate all of failures simultaneously. It means, it is not cost effective and logical to concentrate on elimination of all failures. In Addition, the cause of some failures might not be eliminated. So, the occurrence of those failures should be postponed to the later time as much as possible. Therefore, the critical failure modes should be identified to be concentrated for further analysis. Ultimately; the root causes of these failures should be explored and if it is...

Optimal Seismic Risk Mitigation by Prioritization of Structures for Retrofit

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Talebiyan, Hesam (Author) ; Mahsouli, Mojtaba (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The objective of this thesis is to prioritize a portfolio of buildings for seismic retrofit. A new set of sensitivity measures is proposed to rank the buildings in accordance with the reduction in the loss of the entire portfolio. To this end, various risk measures are differentiated with respect to the cost of retrofit for each building. These risk measures are the moments of the portfolio cost probability distribution which imply the risk-neutral and risk-averse decision making. Two costs are considered: Construction cost due to retrofit and repair cost due to structural and non-structural damage. To quantify the risk, reliability methods are employed in which many interacting...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Akbari, Kiana (Author) ; Heydarnoori, Abbas (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Proper documentation plays an important role in successful software management and maintenance. Software repositories such as GitHub host an enormous number of software entities with various features. Developers collaboratively implement, use, and share these repositories in the community. Software repositories use issue tracking systems to keep track of issue reports, both to manage workload and document the highlight of teams’ effort. An issue report can contain a request for new features, a reported problem, or simply a question by users of a software product. As the number of these issues increases, it becomes harder to manage them. Github provides labels for tagging issues, however,...

    Abstract
Over the past two decades, in developed countries, public-private partnerships have been used as a mechanism to provide the required infrastructure by using private sector capacity. Risk management is the most critical factor in achieving optimal "value for money" in this type of project. In Iran, this is still far from its maturity and the growing trend of adopting this method and the vacuum of its academic literature in the country, necessitate such research. This study has been written to solve this problem due to the lack of risk management framework in the contracts of Tehran Municipality's Partnerships Organization. This dissertation covers three stages of risk management, which...

Software Product Line Testing Optimization Based on Regression Test Techniques

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Mousavi Khoshdel, Narges Sadat (Author) ; Mirian Hosseinabadi, Hassan (Supervisor)
    Abstract
A software product line is a set of products with common features. The design of this set is such that the core assets that are common features between products are implemented only once. All products in the product line use the core assets to reduce development costs. The number of products that can be produced in a software product line is exponential to the number of capabilities in the core assets and the set is very large, so the cost of testing the software product line will be very high. In the software product line testing, various methods have been provided to reduce costs, among which we can mention product prioritization and regression test techniques. In prioritization, the...
