  7. Abstract:
  8. Electrical arc discharge in ambient air, vacuum, reactive gas and other environment is an appropriate method for synthesis of different nanostructures. This method can provide stable and ultra pure nanostructures with diverse applications. In this research we focus on synthesis and analysis of titanium nitride nanoparticles in liquid nitrogen(lack of oxygen)by Electrical arc discharge . At the beginning a reactor for the electrical arc discharge process designed and implemented. Titanium nanoparticles have synthesis by this method analyzed. Several characterization techniques such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), dynamic light scattering (DLS), X-ray photo electron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and UV-Vis spectroscopy have used to analyze nanoparticles. Microscopy analyzes of titanium nitride nanoparticles show formation of nanometric particles which found to increase by increasing the arc current and also their size distribution broads. The particle sizes of samples in 15 mA current are approximately 10 nm. XRD analyses of nanoparticles demonstrate formation of TiN nanocrystallines with cubic structures. Optical absorption of nanoparticles exhibits Plasmon resonance at 440 nm wavelength. The XPS and UV_Vis analysis reveals metallic properties of product nanoparticles.
