  7. Abstract:
  8. Traffic accidents are one of the most important issues of traffic which impose high costs to societies. Regardless of accidents material costs, disabilities and deaths are very considerable. Iran statistics show that death rates caused by driving accidents are two times more than world statistics and each 25 minutes one dies because of driving accidents. Researchers classify factors influencing driving accidents in four categories: human factors, factors related to the environmental conditions, factors related to the vehicles and factors related to the roads. Driver behavior and characteristics are the main human factors that influence his or her behavior. The aim of this study is analyzing differences caused by driver gender in accident severity. In other words, in this study we will try to compare factors influencing female driving accidents severity to male driving accidents severity and showing their similarities and differences in order to make better decisions to reduce losses caused by accidents. Since finding structural relationships between these factors are not possible with classic statistical methods like multiple linear regression models, we will use structural equation modeling in simultaneously estimating cause and effect relationships between a set of observed variables. Population used in this study is based on the United States of America driving accidents data because most of needed factors are completely available in it, also it does not have domestic data imperfections. First one general model will be presented using structural equation modeling for whole drivers including male and female drivers and relationship of driver gender variable will be analyzed. Then separated models for male and female drivers will be generated and will be compared to each other. Results briefly show that driving accident severity of female drivers is less than male drivers
