  7. Abstract:
  8. The increasing number of road accidents and fatalities have yielded the introduction of several solutions by related industries such as automobile manufacture. Proposed solutions can be classified into two categories: passive, such as airbags, and active such as ABS ad ITS-based technologies. Inter vehicles communication let the communication between vehicles(V2V) or between vehicles and road infrastructure (V2I) by relying on DSRC technology and standards. Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) has three main types of applications namely safety, traffic and commercial. Safety applications are the main goal of vehicular communication, and real time guarantee in safety applications is so important. Real timeliness and deadline meeting in Vehicular Ad hoc Network (VANET) is one of the challenging that have not received much attention so far. In this thesis our goal is to analyze and evaluate real timeliness and deadline observance in VANET’s communication protocols. Therefore, have paid attention to deadlines, in several scenarios about vehicle, road and pedestrian on the basis of 802.11p protocol. We have used colored Petri net for evaluating and modeling the protocol. The simulation results of several scenarios show that some of the standards and communication protocols are not able to provide safety measure for vehicles and pedestrians due to their failure to comply with real time deadlines. Hence, some real time features are not addressed completely and these protocols need to be upgraded to solve this problem
