  7. Abstract:
  8. By continuous decreasing the fossil fuel energy resources and increasing demand of such energies on the other hand with decreasing exploration of the new ones, production from these limited resources are in grate consideration. As a few percentages of the oil recovers by primary oil production and also remaining a lot of oil after water and gas injection in the secondary oil recovery process, causes that new methods to increase the oil recovery has been proposed. Water injection is a simple and common method in enhanced oil recovery process. Also water alternating gas injection and simultaneous water and gas injection causes considerable increase in oil recovery. Recently utilization of CO2-enriched water (carbonated water) instead of plain water injection in oil reservoir has been considered by researchers. Injection of water with gas in alternating mode can increase the oil recovery factor but there is no information about alternating injection of carbonated water and Nitrogen gas (that occurs in immiscible condition) in the literature. In this study by utilizing the core-flood apparatus the oil recovery factor by carbonated water injection and also in alternating manner with Nitrogen gas has been considered. In this study also the effect of Nitrogen gas volume to Carbonated water volume in the injection port was investigated. Furtherer more the carbonated water injection in tertiary mode in addition to secondary mode has been investigated. In this study considerable increase in oil recovery in carbonated water injection process in comparison to plain water injection was observed. In alternating injection of carbonated water and nitrogen gas an special trend in various ratio of gas volume to liquid carbonated water volume was observed; such that at high gas to water ratios the oil recovery factor decreases by gas to water ratio and at low gas water ratios an optimum value in oil recovery factor was detected around 0.25 gas to water ratio. This maximum reflects complicated mechanisms in porous media that has been investigated. Investigation and study of this process was attractive because of combining a miscible (miscibility of CO2 in oil) and an immiscible (Nitrogen gas injection) process that one can investigate the effect of various parameters on the efficiency of the process. In this study we carefully investigate the effect of Nitrogen gas volume to carbonated water volume at injection port
