  7. Abstract:
  8. In the present work, a comprehensive economic, environmental and dynamic behavior analysis with multi-objective optimization for the unit 400 of BandarEmam aromatic plant are provided and the interaction between decision variables in these criterions is discussed. In the first part, potential of seven environmental features of the operational plant are qualified and normalized using life cycle assessement (LCA) for both process waste and utility environmental impacts. By choosing the number of trays and feed stage in three distillation columns as decision variables, optimization is performed to determine the best structural variables values based on the total annual cost and Environmental impact (EI) objective function individually. The optimization results demonstrate different values for decision variables according to each objective functions. The trend of process inviromental impacts are in conflict with total annual cost. To study of dynamic behavior of the plant, 90 typical cases around the economical optimal case were selected and dynamic response of them to step disturbance in feed is investigated. The results showed the static optimum case does not have the best dynamic behavior. Most of the time, It is preferred to choose the more expensive one with better dynamic behavior to disturbance rejection
